Why is the search not actually showing everything that it should be?

Because I have missed out on some htf things I've been looking for because of this.
I look in the completed listings and find items that have ended that I surely would have seen since I look constantly throughout the day. Especially since some of them where multi-quantity listings that had purchases by other bidders made over the span of several days.

I always search with newly first setting. Sometimes I notice newly listed stuff appearing below older stuff too, so I have to look at every page to make sure I don't miss anything (but apparently I still do).

@cookie64,

Without any examples of what types of items you are searching for that seem to have missing listings, we can't really offer much in the way of suggestions.   Some items may not be listed in the proper category so they may be missing in a search if you select a category.  Other listings may have misspellings in the titles omitting them from a search.  Some times a too specific search title will cause some items not to show up.

Personally when I search for items, I use Time: Ending Soonest. I'd rather find an auction or listing in its last day(s) than miss it.

Some of my searches have specific Mfr.'s names, product titles, model numbers etc.. Others are more general w/ and without a category.  If an item I'm looking for can possibly be listed in more than one category, I will search in each of the categories, or just use a title search.

Put quotation marks, "htf", on one of your key search words, see if that helps.

I've also noticed newly listed items scattered, but they are usually within the first 2 pages IIRC
