I left my first negative feedback in over 20 years for a seller that sent an opened, used, non-operative item that the listing claimed was Brand New in the sealed box. I asked for a return in which the seller never replied (listing stated that seller did not accept returns). I had to file a claim with eBay in which I got a refund. I posted negative feedback stating the situation above in a factual manner and the next day the feedback was removed! Why was this feedback removed? If eBay is manipulating legitimate feedback, I will never trust what I am seeing as to the seller's reputation. This was a flagrant misrepresentation of the item listed! The eBay policy allowing legitimate feedback to be removed is only a poor representation of eBay's reputation as being an honest site for both buyers and sellers. I'm not sure I will ever trust eBay feedback in the future seeing what I have experienced!

The seller did not remove the feedback ebay did it. If you mentioned filing a dispute or asking ebay to step in that is grounds for the comment to be removed. You cannot mention disputes, claims, cases in any way in a feedback comment.
The seller did face consequences from ebay. They received a defect on their account, the payment was refunded and they didn't get their item back. They also have to pay the selling fees for the transaction.

I stated exactly what was stated in my first two sentences. There were no other derogatory remarks.

If you mentioned claim, or case to get a refund: that is good enough to have the feedback removed.

Yes, I did state that eBay said that they would refund my money if the seller did not respond within a specific time period. I did not ask for this to be a claim. I asked for a refund in the "contact seller" section as the item was not as represented in the listing and eBay stated that they would step in if the seller did not respond.

OK, now I know what to say in the future: "Seller misrepresents item in listing" Period!

Or "Item not as described" is a good one. Fast gets the point across to other readers.
Feedback good or bad should be kept short and to the point. Easier for folks to read.

What good is feedback if E-Bay does not list the sellers negative feedback . I was conned by this guy showing one coin and then sending another but it was a piece of garbage . Oh sure he received his con back but the negative feedback never showed up . This was a not a oh I sent the wrong one he didn't get what he thought he should for the original coin so he sent a slug as far as coins go . The feedback does not show negativity so again what good is feedback from E-Bay . Seems we can't trust E-Bay anymore also . Crooks are coming out of the woodworks with the economy being what it is . FEEDBACK BULLCRAP does not show nothing anymore ,shame it was a good idea . .

Dollars to donuts your "factual" feedback mentioned the Dispute and refund.
Not allowed.
Feedback is not used by eBay to assess member accounts.
Your Dispute may have given him a Defect and certainly is on his record.

It was likely removed for the same reason the OP's feedback was removed.
Filing a claim is useful and affects the seller and his selling account.
He may as a result of Defects have restrictions on the number and value of his listings, higher fees, and may even have his selling account closed.
Feedback is complaining to your friends. It makes basically no difference to how the seller will conduct himself in future.

In other words "FEEDBACK' is a bunch of bull especially if your a buyer looking to see if a seller is not a scammer . GOOD OLD E-BAY never enough to stop the crimes on their own internet site .. Its no wonder there are a lot of startup auction sites going up with integrity behind them .

The usual reason that feedback is removed is because the person leaving it violated one or more of eBay's feedback rules. Since it has been removed we cannot see for sure which one, if any, was violated. Did you mention having to open a case with eBay in the comment?

In other words "FEEDBACK' is a bunch of bull especially...
I would have to say that feedback a seller receives is only MARGINALLY more useful than that received as a
buyer. All buyer IDs have 100% positive, be they good trading partners or the biggest crooks on the site. The feedback score/profile of a buyer ID is completely useless to judge as to whether or not the buyer is going to be honest or a scammer.
Over the last year or so I have noticed an increase in buyer's coming here complaining that their red donuts left for sellers have been removed. Unless we can see the comment, nobody can say if it was likely due to inappropriate comment, or something else.
I looked for the "list" that gave the exact reasons feedback would be eligible for removal, and I can't seem to find it anymore. Maybe someone else can find it for you.
