When would be appropriate to file a not recieved claim

So an item that I expected to arrive today under ebays guaranteed date did not. Tracking is basically useless as it says label created usps awaiting item but they said they dropped it off.

I filed a case with usps but that might not really do much if it is not actually going through the mail system

If I file with ebay should I just say I want the item? When do I really file like today or immediately tomorrow?

I dont want to ding the seller but I also want to handle this right as Im out 60 ish right now so.

Im sorry in advance for so many questions but im new to this and I dont know if just waiting on it like 1 or 2 more days is good or its best to file immediately

USPS is still slow in delivering.

Go to the USPS site and enter your tracking number to see if it has any movement.

If it says awaiting item, then it has not been shipped.

I would wait for a day or two after the last estimated delivery date and then file Item not received case.

Do not close the  case for any reason (especially if the seller tells you to).

Wait for the allotted time on the INR case and then ask ebay to step in if you have not received the item.

Hope this helps

Thanks, I guess ill wait till tomorrow, I have already filed one with the post office. It still says shipping label created usps awaiting item but the package research case is now on official usps tracking. I would click item not recieved under the options correct?

Don't look at the Guaranteed Delivery Date in regards to an Item Not Received claim... they're two different things.

You can open an Item Not Received claim one day past the Estimated Delivery Date on the order. Good luck.

I would encourage you to wait 2 or 3 more days (at least)

In reality eBay can not guarantee delivery of an item they do not ship or handle/transport your item the United States Postal service does (or FedEx)

the date is in fact only a estimation of the date you should receive your item by

Postal workers are still facing delays due to holidays and staff shortages I am still waiting for an item that delivery date was for 2/6

Mail is running slow in general

You have 30 days to file a claim in resolution center for" item not received" if it does not show up in a few days

Try to be patient.  Terrible weather around the country has slowed down all aspects of USPS activity and skipped scans are very common. A package that I myself mailed last week got no scans at all until it was 10 miles from the buyer's location.

eBay's buyer protection policy is called the Money Back Guarantee.  You can file a claim up to 30 days after the expected delivery date.  Filing your "not received" claim ASAP is not going to do anything to help get your package faster.

@wi_492,

As the others have said Covid delays and the massive weather system can cause a lack of scanning information.  If you have been clicking on the tracking number in your purchase history try copying and pasting the number to the official USPS tracking site. eBay's information comes through Pitney Bowes, whose information is not always correct.  Their tracking of an item I sent back in December showed a pickup and facility acceptance scan, then  the next day there was an "information received USPS awaits package" message that was not on the USPS site.

There is also the possibility if the seller is new to using ebay's Managed Payments system, they are not familiar with the information they receive about the Pending notification or where funds are sent and how long it takes to be received.

Since I personally feel ebays tracking is slow as something.....I use usps always I even put the number into my informed delivery and it says shipping label created usps awaiting item still but also says shipped on ebay

If you don't want to ding the seller the be patient. I sell and live in Hawaii and Ebay gives my delivery dates as if I lived next door. Doesn't seem fair but that's Ebay. With the gigantic winter storms delivery of items will definitely take LONG times to deliver. You are placing the blame on the seller when sellers have to rely on USPS which has been proven to be unreliable.

ALL buyers, per the Money Back Guarantee, can open item not received cases as early as 24 hours after the last estimated delivery date.

HOWEVER, in light of the current weather conditions, delays due to Covid 19 and understaffed post offices, I believe most of us would recommend 5-7 days or even longer as long as you do not wait longer than 30 days past the last estimated delivery date as seen in the listing.

If you open an item not received case in the Resolution Center, there is no place that you can just say you want the item, and that's assumed anyway.

You have THIRTY DAYS from the estimated delivery date to file a not received claim.

Wait as long as you can, your patience is appreciated! That said, do not wait so long that you let your claim window expire. It's wonderful that you are thinking of your seller, but don't hurt yourself in the process.

The easier you are to offend the easier you are to control.

I mean the seller lives 8 hours away and really there was no snow in the general shipping path. I want to then think its covid as people would call out

It might be in the system without having been scanned in when the seller dropped it off at the post office.

I  bought an item on Dec 26  that tracking showed as "USPS awaiting item" until it was finally updated to show "Package left in parcel locker" at my  post office on Feb 01, having never showed any movement in the system. Two days before the 30 days to file an INR case was up!

Correction - it never showed movement until Feb 01, then it showed a whole bunch of backdated movement with the delivery.

I'd stayed in touch with the seller so I wasn't worried, but one more day I'd have had to file an INR  case to protect myself, then deal with the nightmare of paying them again when it finally arrived.

It does say it has shipped in ebay and is in transit but still as of today 10 days after it says shipping label created usps awaiting item.....I dont really know what else to do but tuesday I think is when ebay can step in. What I dont want to happen is that I do get the item late and the seller is out their 60 ish bucks. However, at that point under ebays terms and conditions I can so I think that is what I will have to do unfortunately.

It would be appropriate to file an INR dispute after the final day of the estimated delivery period on up to the end of the 30 day period of the MBG.

You can check with PayPal or your payment source for when the 30 day MBG period has passed.
