My son bought an item without me knowing it on my account and i'm not going to pay for it. I tried to cancel it through the seller but he said no. I have no plans on paying for it. EBAY can't take money from me, correct?

Thanks for the response. He is now grounded and i didn't even know he bid on something until i got an email saying i won. I wish he would've told me before it ended so i could had the seller cancel his bid. He's 11 so he know what he was doing. I have a perfect rating on eBay but I just wish the seller let me cancel the order. I understand from his stand point because i'm sure he gets this excuse from time to time but this is true scenario.

You'll have to wear this Unpaid Item Strike then. One won't hurt you.
Two within a 12 month period will find you blocked from purchasing from several sellers. Some are more lenient.
The strike stays active for a year.
If it's not a financial burden to you, you could always pay for it and make your son work it off 😉

So, some of these tales about kids bidding on items without their parents knowledge or permission are actually true ?

My kids know better. We have Amazon echos all over the house that will let you order something via voice without a password or a payment method. My kids have never taken advantage of this.
Of course if they did, Amazon is much easier to deal with than ebay and it would not be difficult to get my money back without some stupid infraction taking place.

I have educated my dog & cat to always act responsibly .
Hope this may be of some help.

My kids are all grown up, so I don't know if they would have bid without my permission, probably not, ebay didn't exist when they were young kids.

If you have a perfect rating and value that perhaps you should just buy the item. Frankly, this is your fault, allowing access to your account by your child. The seller likely lost the other bidders. Next time log out of your account when not in use or secure access to your computer by using child user accounts where your children cannot access websites you use with your active logins.
It’s not possible for buyers to have a less than perfect rating. The OPs rating won’t take hit if she doesn’t pay. All buyers have a 100% positive rating.
If the seller files an unpaid item case, the buyer still maintains a perfect rating.

It has always been by understanding, that as parents, we are responsible for our minor childern's actions... REGARDLESS what their transgression might be. We shouldn't make OUR CHILD'S promblem (and hence the parent's problem), someone else's problem... In spite of how bitter the taste might be, I would say you need to take your medicine, and follow through with the purchase... After all, it's YOUR child...Not the seller's-

My cat walks across my keyboard from time to time. I cringe. Today she put it in airplane mode, lit the keyboard up, took a screen shot and engaged OneDrive - all on one pass. She's typed jibberish and made my screen go wild before. I know she's going to bid on something one day.
