Untracked item with USPS priority mail

I just bought something that was being shipped using USPS Priority Mail.  The purchase record shows a delivery date range but no tracking number. Anyone know why because I thought it came with tracking?

Re: Untracked item with USPS priority mail

Maybe seller is not really shipping via USPS Priority?

Maybe seller buys labels at the post office or another venue like 'Pirateship' and then just marks item as 'shipped' without giving tracking number.

sellers are NOT required to 'give a tracking number' or 'use tracking at all'.

Just keep your eye on delivery- 1 day past 'estimated delivery date' you can open a 'refund request' for 'not received'.

Contact the seller and inquire as to when the item will ship and the carrier tracking number entered into the order.

If you just bought it then it's unlikely it's been shipped yet and thus there is no tracking to show you at this time.

The tracking number will appear when your seller prints a shipping label.

Re: Untracked item with USPS priority mail

The seller is playing the system by marking the item shipped before it is shipped.

May be because he is buying postage at the PO or another site.

May be because he is dropshipping and will not know the tracking number until the dropshipper notifies him.

May be because he is sloppy and lazy.

May be because he will not ship.

May be because he is going to ship late.

Keep your eye out as @stainlessenginecovers  has suggested.

Re: Untracked item with USPS priority mail

@daru5175,

"I just bought something that was being shipped using USPS Priority Mail".

If you made the purchase after 5pm on a Friday in the seller's time zone, the seller would not have to ship until Monday. Since estimated delivery time frames are given as Business Days, which do not include Sat. Sun, or Postal holidays.  So that's when they will buy postage and upload a tracking number.  Open the listing in your purchase history.  Look for the info in the screen shot below.

mudshark61369_0-1727087675694.png

Click on the underlined See Details button. It may tell you if the seller has a handling time.

Ex: Will usually ship within 3 days of receiving cleared payment.

If the seller like you has a low feedback number after their username, yours is (12),  They may not have sold anything before, or in over a year,  and may have run into the 21 day hold ebay places on all new or returning seller's first few payments.

You can find that out by opening the listing. Scroll down the page until you see the seller's username in a large font. Below it will be a few comments and under them an oval with See all feedback in it. Click on that to open the seller's feedback profile page.  Then you have to click on  Switch back to classic view button. Then on the Received as Seller tab.

If you find the seller is either new or returning come back to this topic and tell us that, and we'll tell you what to do.

Re: Untracked item with USPS priority mail

Priority mail does come with tracking. When you ship priority with USPS, you should get a receipt with a tracking number. Go to usps.com and enter tracking number (your sender should have that info). You will get approximate shipping date & estimated delivery date, time. Hope that helps...

That only works when the seller provides a tracking number.

Have a great day.
