UPS Same Zip Code Scam. How to proceed?

Hey guys, long story short I purchased three items from two "different" sellers. They were strategy guides for a game called Bloodborne. Two items from one seller and one from "another". I put that in quotes since the item from the second seller was not only the exact same item but it had the same title and pictures, so I'm assuming it was the same seller using two different account. Well that item was removed by eBay after I purchased it due to the account being suspicious. No tracking was ever uploaded.

The other two items the seller used the UPS Same Zip Code Scam. He put in two UPS tracking numbers that show delivered to my zip code, but were not. Both the weights on the UPS tracking site are not even close to the actual weight of the item.

How should I proceed from here? Message eBay CS on Facebook? Open return requests for the shipped items and see what the scammer does? What about the unshipped one? Any help would be appreciated.

UPS Same Zip Code Scam. How to proceed?

@toastythebaker,

The fake address/zip code scam has been around for quite awhile but has become more common since the start of the Pandemic. The scammers know eBay and other 3rd party online retail sites use an automated Item Not Received (INR) system to check tracking numbers for a Delivered scan, to decide INR cases when filed. They cannot check other label/tracking information due to privacy policies.

eBay does have an appeals process but you have to do some leg work to get a refund.

Go to your  local Post Office, UPS or FedEx store and bring proof of you being the recipient, eBay Order Details and Purchase History pages w/ the tracking number on it.   If you used a phone/tablet etc. for the purchase bring that, or print copies of those pages if you used a computer.

  At the store ask the clerk to compare the shipping label info address, package type/size/weight to the Order details info. They cannot give out specific information, but they can write a note on company stationary  saying things like; the shipping label's address does not match yours, and if applicable that the package type/size/weight. doesn't match what you should have received.

The note needs to be signed and dated by the clerk and give the store#.

With that info you can file an appeal. When you do there will be a place to upload documentation, a clear photo or scan of the note.  Appeals are looked at by real people and the info you provide will cause you to win.

The link below tells you how to file an appeal.

You've successfully messaged eBay CS on Facebook before @toastythebaker and had immediate results. Just do that again, ask eBay to look at the weights, to get your refunds.

No need to go three rounds to have UPS write a letter, open a case, lose the case, file an appeal, get a police report, to get your refund ... unless you enjoy the punishment.

UPS Same Zip Code Scam. How to proceed?

How do I contact eBay for this scam that says the item got delivered?

Can someone provide me a link to contact ebay?

The seller gave me a tracking number going to my zip code and told me he gave me the wrong tracking number by mistake. But eBay recognized it as being delivered today but the seller will not respond.   The weight was  .40lbs.

Now he gives me a new tracking number which weighs 20lb for a camera that costs $5700.

Please help!!

@samikundayo,

Read the reply I wrote earlier on this topic to see how to deal with the issue and get resolution.   In the future write your own topic rather than add your issue to a topic written about a year ago. 5/26/2021
