Thumbnail info different than auction/BIN

I'm searching for a CD boombox to replace my old one that finally gave out.  Doing a search for lowest price first, and found a Magnavox used one for $19.99  Seller shows Free Shipping Free Returns; okay, they are on that ebay program, fine.  Open the thumbnail to check where the player is coming from, and suddenly the shipping jumps to $15, with no reason given.  What gives??

Re: Thumbnail info different than auction/BIN

Was the shipping showing on the Search list or in the title?

Different information would indicate a scam.

Are you in the same country as the seller?

Free Shipping is usually only offered on Domestic Shipping.

  • As an aside, Free Shipping means the cost of shipping is included in the asking price for the item.

Boomboxes are bulky and parcel rates are based not only on weight and dimensions but also on destination.  This may be useful in deciding if the deal is reasonable.

Sorry, it's because eBay has shipping rules for a seller to add an upcharge for shipping to Hawaii.

Re: Thumbnail info different than auction/BIN

If you check the Shipping tab, you might see options, or a different zip code than yours. Sometimes, my at work computer will show really high shipping on the same item I viewed at home, because the browser didn't retain my previous login.

I've also seen listings with "Free Shipping" that specify "Pickup Only" with other options available to you.
