Stop sellers from contacting me when I have clicked on their item

I do not want to get emails from eBay sellers about items, offers, about items I may have clicked on that they are selling

@4sale2uandu

Politely ask those sellers not to contact you anymore.  This is not eBay, Inc.  This is a community discussion forum for buyers and sellers and none of us have the ability nor the authority to stop sellers from messaging you.  It's all on you.

Messages are not from sellers.

Sellers do not get your information until you buy something.

The messages are from eBay.

They do this to try to generate more sales. More sales = more fees collected = more $ for eBay.

You’re blaming the wrong “people” for this … it’s eBay sending you these offers when you even just look at something for a quick second, NOT the sellers doing this.

You can opt out of receiving any offers in your preferences.

Hi @4sale2uandu . Go to this page: https://commspreferences.ebay.com/commsprefs

Next to Buying Activity click Edit

Uncheck Offers to buyers

Uncheck Competing Offers

Click the blue save button

Problem solved.

Nope. I've had all of those things unchecked since ebay first put them there. I still get offers from sellers - and then I cannot even delete the damned things. It's so annoying, does anyone like them?

The quickest way is to log out of eBay and clear your cookies.  They don't know who you are then.  You do have to log back in to bid or purchase.

When was the last time you checked? "Competing offers" was newly added this year and auto-checked by default.

Those are settings on the website that need to be managed.

If it's on your phone you also need to go into your notification settings on the app which are separate from the website settings.

Re: Stop sellers from contacting me when I have clicked on their item

None of this "unclicking" boxes works.  I was on a chat with an ebay rep and they were useless.  I still want to receive offers on items I am "watching", but not on stuff I just happened to click on.  This seems to be a relatively new annoyance.  Does anybody really know how to stop these offers?

Unfortunately, eBay does not distinguish between different kinds of offers, so you will have to decide which is more important to you: receiving the offers you actually want, or not receiving the offers you do not.

Or you can use a different account with different settings to do your searching, or you can search while not signed in.
