Size of items

A few of the things I've been getting are much smaller than the picture shows, especially the games, toys, and utensils.  It would be nice if eBay would require a seller to list the actual size of what's being sold.

Yeah, it would appear "some" sellers on eBay, and I use the word "some" loosely, have their photos ferried from the island of Deceit.

However, eBay does recommend for sellers to be thorough in the item's description.

A thorough description might nullify the original intended perception or a thorough description might promote the original intended perception.

one of the thing that really prompts me to just back-away, so to speak, is this: to click on "see description," and there'll be like a fully page plus, of how great the seller is referencing themselves: a template. Yet the item's description will be like 5 or so words, and sometimes not even in a structured sentence. And that speaks in a higher volume than the windy template, in fact, to me it nullifies the seller's self boasting about how great they are, and why, well, I think that would be obvious.

Yeah, it would be nice.

@palepepper, I looked at one of the feedbacks you recently left, where you mentioned a size issue:

  • Quick delivery. Much smaller than picture shows. Next time, please add actual dimensions.

One of the pictures from that item shows the dimensions. Were these not accurate?

Some sellers, especially those who are drop-shipping items, use the stock images from their suppliers, which may be of questionable quality or accuracy. Often, they digitally edit the images to add people, and the relative sizes may be far off. You should suspect this might be the case whenever the pictures appear to be combined from separate images (like this listing).

If they haven’t listed the sizes and I’m really  interested then I send a message and ask before I buy.

Just for clarification.

It makes much more sense than to buy it and be disappointed when it arrives.

If the seller doesn’t answer my messages within a few days I usually try to find the item or something similar with another seller.

So yes.

It would be nice for them to do that but I’m not going to let it stop me from buying the things that I want.

It’s really an easily solvable problem, imo.

For every seller like that there is a buyer that just asked me about a 40" x 30" fireplace screen and if the height was 40" or the length was 40"

It's a ding dang rectangle...

As lacemaker mentioned, the measurements were on one of  the pictures.

The Rubix cube you expected to be larger was listed in 2 places that it was 3x3x3, which is the standard original size.

You also complained about the flavor you thought was too sweet on a nectar beverage you purchased.

Those type of comments make me reach for my blocked bidder list. Three unfair strikes make you striking out as a buyer in my book.

If there is any aspect of a potential purchase that isn't mentioned in the listing, any buyer can either contact the seller and ask or simply move on and find another item.

And yet in all of my listings I list the exact size and still I periodically get a feedback "Smaller than I thought". HUH????? The dimensions are listed DIDN'T THE BUYER TAKE THE TIME TO READ???????

I suspect, based on a couple of the comments above that show the sizes were listing, that the OP also neglected to actually read was post written.

I wrote a few of the things I bought, not all of them .  I do read what's written.  Sometimes. the picture of the item shown appears to be larger than the one receive.  Not knowing what the actual size of the item bought in stores is, maybe it should be noted that the one being sold on auction is a smaller size.

The box of the "Full Sized Carbon Fiber Speed Cube Magic Puzzle Toy Gift" that I received measures only 2  1/4x2 1/4x2 1/4".  From what you just wrote, I should have received a box that measures 3x3x3.  However, you might be wrong in using those measurements.  It could be that 3x3x3 means there are three blocks across each side.   If that's the case, the actual size of the box should be noted.

I never complained about a nectar beverage, as I've never purchased a beverage of any kind.  It wasn't me who wrote that.   I give five stars to everyone except the ones I don't fill out at all.

On the other hand as every carpenter knows a 2x4 isn’t actually 2” x 4”.

According to

Bandelow, C. (6 December 2012). Inside Rubik’s Cube and Beyond Springer Science & Business Media. p. 2 ISBN 978-1-4684-7779.5

A standard Rubik's Cube measures 5.6 centimetres (2+1⁄4 in) on each side”

3x3x3 refers to 3 squares on each side to distinguish from all of the other configurations available.

I wrote  that 3x3x3 means there are three blocks across each side.  It actually means three blocks across, three blocks down, and three blocks diagonal on each side.

No. I wasn't  talking about those box of toys. I was talking about the feedback where you said the cube arrived quickly. Smaller than the full size that I'm familiar with.

3X3X3 was in the description. The title said it was 3x3.
