Shipping Costs way to high total rib off at ebay

the shipping cost,s are a total rib off on ebay

is this the seller or ebay fault , for some products you must pay more shipping cost then the price of the artikel you buy

You are in Canada, shopping on the U.S. site, so yes, depending on the item, shipping can be high. You shop total cost, price+ shipping..if its not to your liking, find another seller.

For some items it really is perfectly legitimate that the shipping costs more than the item.  The post office does not care so much what the item is worth (except for insurance purposes) what impacts the shipping cost is size, weight and how far it's going.  For instance, if I have an old sewing machine that works great but I don't use it  I might decide to list it for just $25, not looking to get rich, just want to get something.  If the buyer lives not too far away it might only cost $25 to ship, if they live on the other side of the country it may very well cost $45 to get there and if you're talking about international shipping it would be even more.  Sometimes shipping is really expensive and there's not a thing you can do about it; doesn't necessarily mean the seller is ripping you off.  The best bet is to familiarize yourself with what it costs to ship so you know when costs shown are in line with what they should be.

Alas!  International shipping is somewhat on the high side.  Unfortunately, I don't see it coming down any time soon.

With regard to placing the blame, I don't really think that the fault can be assigned to either the seller or eBay.  Trading internationally is somewhat complicated and, I'm afraid, the international political climate often affects it.

Sellers buy postage from the companies that deliver the packages. Has it occurred to you that sellers are simply passing along the cost of what USPS, UPS, FedEx, Canada Post charge them?

Do you understand that those companies charge based on the weight and size of the package, and not the value of the item? It doesn't make any difference whether I ship you a box full of diamonds or a box full of air. The cost of postage is based on weight and size.

if you want to buy something on ebay priced 200 dollars then you get + 100 dollar shipment !!

a cabel for transmitters cost the not normal price 45 dollar (2 connectors and a peace of wire)+25-40 dollar shipment ??

thats realy not normall looking at the weight 

if the think in the us the come verry ritch in a short time 

i think also the sellers on ebay not selling so mutch becose of this rediculis price,s

Then why are you registered in Canada? Sellers on eBay are selling just fine. Those that aren’t, probably aren’t getting much exposure from eBay.

And I repeat: The price of shipping has nothing to do with the price of the item. I don't know why people don't understand that. I've never gotten any praise for shipping a $200 set of trading cards for less than $10. That's because it's all based on weight of the item, not the price of the item.

The cost of international shipping for US sellers has gone up a lot in the last 5 years. So if you need to have something shipped from the US to another country besides Canada it can cost an awful lot of money. But your post gives no basis for us to judge a statement like that.

Not if we're just passing along what the shipping company charges us.

Now, one thing that occurs to me: You may be looking at listings that use eBay's Global Shipping Program. In which case, you have a point — it has been well documented that the GSP drives up the cost of shipping, and that it makes small, light items much more expensive than they should be. In that case, it's not the seller who is making money. All the seller gets is enough to cover shipping to the GSP shipment center in Kentucky. The rest of the money goes toward pre-paying import duty to the destination country, and processing costs for the company that runs the GSP for eBay, Pitney-Bowes. Like I said, it's a poor fit for small, light items, but that doesn't stop some sellers from using it anyway.

But there are also a lot of sellers who don't use the GSP, and to some extent you can separate the professionals from the amateurs on that basis.

If you are looking at Ali and trying to compare shipping, forget that. The Chinese have special shipping arrangements that allow them to ship for almost nothing or free. Sellers in the US do not have that arrangement.

It says you are registered in Canada.

Those Chinese sellers can ship their cheap junk for almost nothing, when the rest of the world has to pay what ever the carrier charges us to ship an item.

Shipping cost has nothing to do with the price of the item. Shipping is determined by weight, size of package and location of buyer.

Your shipping costs on Wish and Ali are so low because these products are shipped straight from China.  The Chinese government pays part of the shipping costs to help their economy.

The US government does not do that. 

If there is anything wrong with your purchase it will cost way more than your purchase to return it.

If you want better answers to your questions tell us what country you are in and give us an item number of an ebay product.

If you are not in Canada, why does your profile show you as being registered there?

The issue is the op says they are in the US.

I'm on a posting ID. I haven't put any info in other than my email, and it correctly shows I'm in the US.

So if the op is in the US, then they have something set up wrong.
