Shipped (Untracked), How dumb?

I paid for multiples items today from one of my regular sellers which I know won't be shipped until monday. But my order no longer says awaiting shipment after paying.

Instead it says, Multiple item, and then Shipped (Untracked).... Brilliant

I think Awaiting shipment made more sense, and that's all I needed to know. This just creates confusion.

I assume I'm not the only one seeing this..

That message is probably a new one dreamed up by AI, due to complaints about the purchase of a shipping label generating a Shipped message before an item has been received by a shipping agency. 

  It will probably change once your package gets an Acceptance scan by a driver or office clerk. Check it Monday evening in the seller's time zone, to see if that happens, and let us know if it does and what the wording is.

I saw this with a Calgary seller yesterday.  I cancelled the order, she came back and stated this was a problem with a cloud server being down.   The order was cancelled within 15 minutes, but I cancelled it only 3 minutes after making the purchase.

This topic is about a new message that is displayed by ebay involving  an item's shipping status. It has nothing to do with cancellations. You should have started a new discussion.

When you commit to buy and pay for an item you cannot unilaterally cancel the transaction. You can ask a seller to cancel it, but they are not required to agree to do that.

I could understand if it still showed "Awaiting shipment" which it still does for single items , but for multiple items they removed it totally.

Some of us don't use eBay labels with tracking...and some items(cheap items) don't have tracking.

A new thing to shame sellers who don't do...

You can add tracking manually to ebay's system. It's foolish not to use tracking especially when the United States Postal Service loses packages or they get stalled in their system. 

You are taking a big risk by not using tracking when selling on ebay @12345jamesstamps

Another order I also paid yesterday, for a single item, did change to showing tracking available already. The other order for multiple items in my OP I will have to wait and see tomorrow if it does the same.

Bought several things over the last few days. They have all shown that. Then they changed to Tracking Available. 

Yes, it did make me think at first that the seller had decided to ship without tracking. I didn't care much, the risk is on them after all. Other than paying for a tracked service maybe.

Don't be silly.  No tracking is in your favor.  If the number says delivered, you lose an item not received case even if you never got it.  With no tracking, you will will such a case even if it's received.

it is a glitch. every purchase i've made after the 24th has said this, and the sellers all have provided tracking numbers. people are also talking about it on reddit. when shipping out today, i made sure to get a receipt for the shipments i sent out just in case a buyer messages me about this.

My order shipped on monday as expected for the multiple item order in my OP.

I completely agree with you. I made multiple purchases as well and they all say that. If it's not broken it does not need fixing.

Same. I just bought three items from different sellers and all three of them say "Shipped (Untracked)." I've been using eBay since 2009, and I've never seen this before.
