I am currently awaiting feedback for 8 items I purchased, some dating back to early May. I immediately paid for all of them, and didn't bug the sellers with silly questions or requests. I have already left positive feedback for all of them, and it's disappointing when sellers can't be bothered to do the same. Is there ebay etiquette for this situation? Should I contact the sellers?
[I'm certain it's deliberate in the case of two items: I had the nerve to point out the shipping was V fast but expensive, but still marked it positive and gave each section 5 stars. I did not mention that I was promised a discount which I did not get, nor that the shipping charge was $14 for just 2 t-shirts, while the actual postage (right on the box!) was half that.]
Thanks for any input.

Feedback is completely optional. Most of the time, people just won't bother with it. As mentioned in other recent threads, most sellers that posted (myself included) get a 20-30% feedback rate off of buyers. Generally since feedback for buyers also happens to be pretty irrelevant in the system metrics (it's always going to be 100%), a lot of sellers either won't bother to do it or just set it up to be done automatically.
I get it, it's nice to be able to see the feedback. I generally pay attention to doing both buyer and seller feedback and like to see it. But for most part, I've learned to not expect it and not push for it (that's pretty much the "ebay etiquette" for this).

Leaving feedback is Voluntary for both buyers and sellers. Buyers cannot receive non-positive feedback. As long as you are a Buyer only on this account, you will never receive a negative feedback. You will always have a 100% rating, which is shared with non-payers, serial bid retractors, and scammers. As a result of that many sellers have opted out of leaving feedback. Some sellers leave feedback in batches so you may yet receive the feedback from some of the 8 sellers. As a buyer your reputation is judged by the feedback you have left for your sellers, and bid retractions if any, if a seller bothers to check your feedback at all.

@fastgloria As a buyer you actually have more than sufficient FB to show you are a good buyer. Because buyers can only receive positive FB it stops having any meaning once a buyer has over 50 FB score. That said what DOES have an influence on your future sellers is the FB left for others. Again yours looks awesome so even if you stopped leaving comments altogether, you will be fine as a seller. Best of luck to you....

If you felt that the shipping cost was too much, and you saw it before purchasing, why then go ahead with the purchase?

It did not show up as $14 shipping in my cart, which is why I commented on it. You may have noticed I also mentioned the seller said they would give me a discount on the items, and did not.

Feedback is and always has been 100% voluntary on eBay. Since 2008 sellers have only had the option to leave positive feedback for buyers or none at all. Thus many sellers have merely chosen the latter option.

Recognize feedback is optional. But as a buyer, I expect it at the point the seller sends the item I bought. (I do that when I sell on eBay). If a seller has not left feedback at the point I receive the item, I view that as a lack of communications and it reflects on the number of stars I give the seller on that transaction for that category. Probably not a big impact/care to them, but ...............

Can’t be both ways. Either you view it as optional or you ding a seller for not giving you your ‘golden star’.
What on earth will 3747 ‘stars’ get you that your current 3746 can’t attain?

@kenmarks
Thanks for positing. Star dings, as well as feedback, don't count for anything anymore with regard to their seller rating. I, for one, will never have to worry about getting stars with missing arms or legs from you.

Interesting that you would say that when your own feedback shows 5,549 Feedback received / 4,863 Feedback left.

As a seller I wait to give feedback because if the buyer gives me negative and nasty feedback I can reply to them and explain what happened if need be.

If you always leave feedback for your sellers, then according to your numbers, 90% of your sellers leave it for you. Why are you unhappy because 1 out of 10 doesn't?

Making sure I understand: If a seller does not do something that is not required, then you ding their stars?
If 3747 FB is so important to you, then buy something from me (another ID) and I will leave you FB.
