Sellers can block comments when leaving negative feedback?

COA has a zipcode that does not exist in Albany NY therefore I have decided to return the item for a refund. I would be very careful buying from any seller who does not return emails and bans you from any business when they are questioned about their COAs. A COA from another item from this seller has the last name of an autograph authenticator spelled incorrectly. Explanation of what a real COA should look like can be found here ://talesfromthecollection.com/2022/06/24/coa/ BEWARE!!!!

This is what was in the comments. There is no harsh bashing. This comment is what I believe to be the truth yet it appears that other buyers can not read it because it was made private? Where is the truth and buyer protection that eBay brags about?

You got a refund, eBay will remove any negative as the seller made you whole.

I don't click on links on a public forum.......

Just checked your FB and you better hope your seller does not report your reply  to their feedback as you have blatantly  circumvented an eBay policy by leaving that reply once FB your comment was removed.

eBay frowns on this behaviour, thanks for posting.

The buyer protection is a money back guarantee to all buyers on this platform, regardless of what individual policy a seller has. Feedback is only supposed to be a buyers opinion and not a warning to other buyers. Writing BEWARE!! is typically a sure fire way to get your comment removed. Next time simply leave your opinion to the transaction, which would be a sufficient warning to others. Best of luck to you....

Are you saying that eBay will block me? I have purchased more items that have not been sent yet.

The two feedback that you left for that seller (both the neg and the positive) are marked "Private listing" because that is how the seller set up the listings originally, it was not done after the purchase.  Setting up a listing as "Private" can only be done before the item is purchased; it hides the details about the listing (title, price, listing number) but it does not hide the feedback comment.

Accusing a seller of fraud does indeed sound like "harsh bashing". Of course he wanted it to be removed.

The dashes next to the "red donut" show that the comment that you left with that rating was removed by eBay, apparently in response to a complaint by the seller.  I don't understand why he didn't also complain to eBay about the identical comment you left as a followup to the other feedback you left for him, with the positive rating. Perhaps he did complain, and followup comments are not subject to the same removal policies?

Hi @lz69_42

My guess is that eBay removed the comment because it contained a LINK to a non-eBay website.  [The seller may not even have requested the removal.  eBay may have a bot that searches for links  … and removes comments that contain them.]

[Ran out of editing time.]

eBay makes some unexplainable changes to feedback we leave and receive.  Take a look at my feedback profile ... and there's a positive feedback (5-down on the list) that has dashes instead of a comment.  The seller's name is completely masked as dashes as well.

The positive feedback I left that seller shows on my (and seller's) feedback profile also has dashes for a comment ... AND my name is just dashes on the seller's (and my profile).  It makes no sense.

I have no idea why the comments and names are removed in both our profiles.  The item was a non-prescription allergy/sleep aid.   ALL of the feedback comments for this item in the seller's profile are dashes as well ... but NOT for other items.  The seller still has this item listed, so there's nothing 'off' about the item that I can think of.

 TO THE POSTER, the buyer's names are ONLY visible to the seller and the buyer.  Anyway, some feedbacks are automatically removed if you have been refunded.  Study your sellers better before you buy.   I have never had a seller NOT ship an item to me.  This account barely has feedback but my other two have alot.  I started here in 1998.  Research your sellers better.

This comment is meant for the post and not house of paws.(sorry.)

No, but as a seller reading this I will be. eBay removes neg FB once a seller refunds of their own accord, you have no definitive proof it was a fraudulent COA and you reamed a seller after your FB was already removed for a legitimate reason,

As a seller I would not deal with you as in your very short time on eBay you seem very quick to throw out red dots and then go further by leaving a response to a seller once it is removed.

Not good form

Seems like the guy down under is OK with someone sell fake things on eBay. He must have some nice quick sand land to sell you if your fool enough to pay for it.

The item was a non-prescription allergy/sleep aid. ALL of the feedback comments for this item in the seller's profile are dashes as well ... but NOT for other items.

eBay routinely removes feedback comments and item titles in feedback for anything medicinal -- possibly to avoid running afoul of HIPAA rules.

@downunder-61,

You wrote in reply to the OP;

"you have no definitive proof it was a fraudulent COA...".

Check the OPs board profile and read the reply I left in their second topic.  That seller has a couple of IDs they use and their COAs aren't worth the paper they are printed on.

The OPs follow up to the first feedback they left, is allowable. Follow up comments do not fall under the same rules as original comments do.

Can they still leave you feedback once you’ve blocked them

Blocking a user does not prevent that user from leaving feedback.
