I purchased a laptop from this seller for close to 1000 dollars. He has very good feedback 1000+. I received it yesterday, but the specs of the laptop don't match the description. The one I got is a much cheaper version. I contacted the seller and he claims that he sent me the correct item and I'm the one who trying to scam him. I recorded myself opening the package on camera and showing that I received the wrong item. Additionally, I went back and looked at the pictures on the listing, and after zooming in I noticed that it was indeed a cheaper/older version that he was trying to pass as more expensive one. (video card differences). Now seller blaming me for swapping the laptops. I initiated a return but wondering what should I do next. I'm afraid that seller will receive the package and will claim that I put rocks or something like that inside. Tnx.

Pictures posted in a dispute of a package or item damaged upon arrival are not the same as photographing,or videotaping yourself opening a package as proof of anything, and are not accepted. Even having a postal employee witness you opening said package is not accepted.

Yes exactly. oh btw seller already received my return and relisted it, but not thinking about refunding me my money, I have to wait until 20Nov and then ask eBay to step in.....sucks.The thing you should know and I will tell you because I understand how it works from both sides... And the one thing you should know is that ebay ALWAYS sides with the buyer, so much so you could in fact have sent back a rock and ebay would still issue you the refund per the MBG, video or not.
Yes it's true, and the sellers can call the police and file their reports with the USPS and open claims with the IC3 and talk about contacting the FBI and how they're going to send you to prison, it matters not.
And the only reason I mention it, you can certainly take videos of yourself for the purpose of keeping your sanity or if it makes you feel better or because you are an honest person and you are doing the right thing or any other reason, I'm good with that... But know that ebay has the buyer's back 100% always, no exception.
It really is true, I know.
It's the sellers who need to watch what they do around here, now it is up to you...
Never take advantage of this power.
Please stick around, ebay is so much more fun once you know that.
Good luck to you.

You've been a member .....since...this year, and talk like a veteran eBayer. What the heck? The OP has been an eBayer for 14 years!!!!!
You must be new to the Boards. Sorry that you are unaware of this but many use what are called posting ids. So that person you are questioning could have been on Ebay since its' inception. Welcome to the Boards!

With all due respect, I see no reason to blame Ebay for these situations.
Sellers and buyers may choose to have an adversarial stance due to either their inclination, their choice, or as a learned response to how they have been treated. To blame Ebay for this is to deny any individual's personal responsibility for how they act/behave. Sellers can bully and abuse in hopes of running off the buyer with a legitimate SNAD return, and justify themselves by thinking every buyer is a scammer. Buyers who have been treated poorly and have bad experiences may view all sellers with suspicion, and think every seller is a scammer.

Even though sellers can't neave a neg feedback, they can leave neg comments, and will. The defensive, threatening behavior of the seller is what tipped me off. Just "assuming" you're dishonest and scamming...when it's obvious you aren't after 14 years on eBay. I think someone would have caught on to that by now.
Sorry but no, it wouldn't have shown in his feedback. Ebay did away with negs for buyers in 2008 and if a seller leaves a negative comment in the positive format, they can be sanctioned and the feedback removed. So there is no guarantee that anything adverse will show in a buyer's feedback and the flagrant scammer will look no different than a responsible ebayer. Not saying the OP is a scammer, just stating that you can't always tell who is who as you seem to think.

That user may have two decades on Ebay on their other id as this is their posting id. And you can't always go by how many years someone has been on as they may have no greater knowledge of how Ebay works than they did when they started even if they have many years here~it may mean nothing.
