I answered an ad on Facebook. A woman who claimed to be a nurse being deployed. Sold me a RV Fleetwood 1999 . Made sound good
For 1200, said to pay through eBay motors escrow. The eBay motors escrow email me. I paid them with ebay gift cars. My RV Fleetwood was supposed to be delivered today. Never shop on Facebook and Ebay unless it's official registration you verify with them.

An ad on Facebook has nothing to do with eBay. They are two different companies. This is a very common SCAM. If you paid with gift cards, I'm sorry, but your money is gone. Report the ad to Facebook because they will scam someone else.

Given the high price of used vehicles these days, why would you think anyone would list one for only $1,200? eBay has never had anything to do with vehicles or anything else listed on other sites, those listings are all scams. Craig's, Facebook Market place, Let Go, etc. all have info on how to avoid scams. Not reading that info before buying was a big mistake. The price alone should have been a red flag. Low Price + Sob Story + Pay with Gift Cards = SCAM

Facebook is NOT eBay -- they are NOT connected in ANY way, shape or form.
Your money is gone, and will never be recovered, since you paid with gift cards.
Don't blame eBay -- eBay has NOTHING to do with Facebook.
And just consider -- the delivery costs ALONE to ship an RV Fleetwood 1999 from the seller to you would easily EXCEED the $1200.00 you were charged -- think about that.
And in what universe do people pay for motor vehicles with untraceable gift cards?

I am sorry that you fell for this very old and very common scam. But no one at eBay can help you, because eBay was never involved in any way.
There was no RV. There was no woman named whatever name she used. The story about being a military nurse about to be deployed was a lie to gain your sympathy and to explain the ridiculously cheap price. All the escrow and other eBay "paperwork" you were sent was fake. Gift cards cannot be traced and your money can never be recovered, which is why you were told to pay with gift cards.
Law enforcement cannot help you, either, because once you fell for the scam and sent the gift card numbers, the scammer and his Facebook account disappeared in a flash.
There is not a thing you can do except learn from this $1200 lesson that the old saying is still true: If a deal sounds too goof to be true, it is not true.

If you want to buy something on ebay, you MUST go to ebay. If you find it elsewhere, it's not ebay. No legit seller on ebay is going to ask for gift cards. That is a sign of a scammer. Sorry about this loss but if you make a police report and save it, you have a nice deduction for your income tax next year. Sorry.

WHAAAAAAT, a 1999 Fleetwood RV for $1200 instead of $12,000!! Where is this? I want one!!!
That was a fake invoice.
Don't be scammed. Buy where you can test drive it and check that the VIN numbers on it match and it isn't stolen and the title is clear. And they show you their ID so you know their name matches the name on the title.

And don't believe everything you see on the internet.
Sites can be fakes, emails can be faked. Be careful!

Yeah, I just checked JD Power for giggles: For a 1999 Fleetwood RV, low retail is $16,350 and high retail is $19,700. $1,200 is about 7.5% of low retail. I'd buy two or three of 'em at that price!

The beauty of this scam is that it appeals to buyers' greed. Item being sold for well bellow retail cost and you don't notice the numerous red flags.
Bellow value item
Saw it on Facebook, Craigslist, or any other location, but eBay is handling the transaction.
Zappy story
Car will be delivered to your home, do you have any idea how much does transporting a car cost
Payment via gift cards, how come not cash, credit cards, money orders?
5-7 days tryout.
Consider yourself lucky that it was only $1200, since they usually will ask for more $ such as insurance and tax. At the very least notify where you found this to delete the add and prevent others for falling prey.

Scammers have been busy this week, third one Ive seen on the boards.

Sadly, I fell for this scam as well 😪. All I can say is, don't let your desperation override your common sense. Unfortunately I did just that 😕. Lesson learned the hard way, but too late for my bank account and fixed income 🙃.

eBay did nothing wrong here.
