Seller lately cancelling sales?

I have had several in the last 6 months where I bought something and the sale cancelled sometimes minutes after I paid for the item. If these people do not want to sell the items....then why are they posting them? I have been a member for a longtime and never seen this happen so much.

In my decades on eBay I have only had one cellar cancel. So I Googled it the company . and it turns out and within that time frame there was a mass cancellation of sales by eBay itself.

Seller breach of contract

It doesn't matter why a seller has listed an item for sale, what should matter to a buyer is the degree of effectiveness & enforcement of penalties eBay imposes to help discourage seller cancellations.

Is there a way to have ebay find out if a seller is being fraudulent? Example: I sent a seller a best offer and it expired. They never responded. I went ahead and and bought the item. 15 minutes later I got a refund with the reason of Out of stock or damaged. Now obviously this person already knew this was a problem and kept this item up for sale. Wouldnt Ebay be able to do something about it?

Out of stock hurts the sellers status..

eBay can not force em to sell, they can eventually make it cost them more to do so or restrict. and or suspend the selling status if the keep up such behavior...

Five in the whole entire time I have been on here? And its been cause of the people that has cancelled after I bought or won their auctions? If I was leaving hundreds of bad feedback there would be a issue.

Any seller who cancels an order because they see that you leave negative fb for sellers who cancel orders is lacking the capacity to think logically - this not somebody you want to do business with.

For years I let things go. Figured whats the use. So now I get fed up this year with people screwing me over and start saying something and its not ok to say anything? Warn others of people wrong doing others? So its going to hurt me in the long run? I see these people with 98% or more and see why they are there....never sent....Cancelled order without any reason....stuff like that and I avoid them like the plague unless I have been ordering from then way before  the negative. A man is only as good as his word. I follow that very well. When I sell something....I follow through. No matter what feedback they give other. Its the right thing.

I agree with you: Yet others may not. And as already stated by popblox:

if this is the cause you are being done a favor... They are not worth dealing with.

For that mater any one that does such has done you a favor. Think of it that way...

The only one I have canceled  lately: is after purchase they tried to get me to change shipping and use a form of shipping that would have been again the rules...

That one the item was no longer available.

I took the hit and moved on....Simpler than trying to train em....

I agree with that. If they see that there is negative left for cancelling...then they are not thinking. I just now seen your reply. Just kinda drives me crazy. I guess I will just leave well enough alone.

He probably has a suspiciously high amount of refunds as well .. not that anyone will do anything about that

I would imagine that you send them an email asking them why did they cancel the order ..  what did they say to you, if they say anything at all.

When sellers cancel orders there is only three choices in the drop-down that eBay has for them to choose from..  but when a seller wants to refund an order which of course is what eBay wants them to do there's like a whole Litany of choices as well as other.

As there is no way of knowing that, and given the fact that all the FB I saw was justified, that is a very ambigous 'assumption' and totally uncalled for
