Seller keeps sending abusive messages; how to stop?

I bought a camera lens with fine scratches on glass; told seller but said will keep it. He was irritated and demanded me to send it back. I sent back and he got it. He now said I scratched his lens hood and even complained I wrapped too much bubble wrap and used too much tape to make him hard to take the lens out. He strongly believes I didn this intentionally. I am speechless. It is a $39 transaction. He said due to the scratch, he can only sell for $36 and will report to ebay. He said it is far from over. I don't think he is a reasonable person and even think it is worse than this. I am not sure what he will do to me as he has my address. How to stop him from sending me message? Should I just give him ten bucks and let him stop?

Thank you very much for any suggestions!!

Thank you very much. I actually called ebay last Thursday and a lady said they will contact the seller. However seller still messaged me with very abusive wording. I'll call them again.

I've had this very thing happen a few years back.  For me it was a buyer that never paid for her item and insisted I ship it anyway.  She became very abusive.  I contacted Ebay and they supported me as they did for you.  A few days later the buyer emailed me again.

I sent her a simple message back.  Our transaction is complete.  Please do not contact me any further or I will need to inform Ebay.

She ignored that too so I called Ebay again.  This time they were a bit stronger with her.  She went silent for a few days again and then she was right back at it.  Mind you this was over a pattern for $1 plus shipping.  Ridiculous but true.

I contacted Ebay again, this time she got a vaca from Ebay.  I'm not sure for how long, but I know she never bothered me again.

So I say call Ebay again.  You do not have to be abused by an Ebay member.  Ebay will step in.

I checked out the above link and simply found the same post. No idea why you are still going on about this. I'm sorry you had this encounter. Hopefully it has been a learning experience for you. Since you were happy to keep the lens, I see no reason to have gone back and forth with the seller. Well, that was then and now is now. Please don't go back and forth with a seller or buyer when there is an issue. Hopefully you kept all the messages and those messages were through eBay's messages and not emails. Those messages can be your friends. I wish you good resolve. I'm sure ebay will take care of it as was suggested. Try to forget about it and move on. Life is short.

I completely understand why you are upset.  This happens.  Sorry it happened to you.

You did nothing wrong in alerting the seller to the discrepancy in description, even if you intended to keep it.  It's a head up.

Ebay frowns on buyers being abused.

Thank you for your reply. I personally really don't want to be dragged into this anymore. The seller's tone is very frightening. I don't think I can disclose more personal information about him. But he is by himself anything can happen. This is what worries me. You are definitely right. I'll need to move on. Appreciate your reply.

Thank you too. I understand ebay pretects buyers. The thing is this seller has had a paranoid impression that I lied, I played games, I blamed him for everything to ebay. So even if ebay's decision is in favor of him, I am afraid that he won't stop. Anyways, I'll see what happens. Thank you again.

Since you are deeply troubled by the messages you are receiving.

You can just send him $3 & do not communicate any further.

Your story is really twisted. I understand that feeling. Good you got it solved in the end.

This past Monday I was too busy to call. Good thing is seller didn't come back as usual. I had a quite strong tone in my last message to him; but I never used abusive words. I discovered he quickly sold the lens and funny thing is that he mentioned the scratches almost using the original words in my initial message to him.
