Seller does not accept returns on a NEW condition item does this mean shipping damage is covered?

I am considering a fairly expensive purchase (3500$) on a product in new condition in Guam and having it shipped to the mainland. If the product were broken or severely damaged in the shipping process would that be covered even though the seller does not accept returns? The condition of the item is labeled as "NEW". Thanks!

No returns DOES NOT mean no refunds - if the item arrives, and it's not as described, whether from damage or inaccurate description, ebay's MBG (money back guarantee) is on your side.  You're covered.

I will say $3500.00 is a sizable sum.

You are well covered by the Money Back Guarantee.  But, in addition to the other advice you have been given, be sure to read the seller's FB received from buyers.

Personally, I would NEVER buy such an expensive item on eBay, but that's just me.

A clean FB record does not mean that your transaction will go smoothly.

 

Make sure you know the process associated with the Money Back Guarantee and are prepared to follow it before buying.

 

I'd be reticent to buy an expensive item from anywhere other than the 48 contiguous states, and would probably not buy it on Ebay.

 

Ebay has improved in its buyer-friendliness over the years, but is still behind other sites in policing its sellers.

 

As a seller, it is abundantly clear that many offers on Ebay could not be made elsewhere - for good reason.

Depends what exactly you mean by that. If you are the one arranging the pickup and shipping yourself then I don't believe you are covered.

 

If it's the seller shipping it to you direct then yes you are covered.

I suggest as a new buyer you stick to lower value items.  Are you sure you can't buy that from a local dealer?  If you must make such a purchase, pay with a credit card for it's added protection.  If it's a new item, you should not expect a warranty unless purchased from a factory dealer.

Just something to look at....................  but be sure that the item is listed in a category that is covered by the eBay MBG.

 

Some categories are not, and some list in an incorrect category to not include the MBG coverage.

No returns does not mean no returns...if item was damaged or broken.

Buying something that expensive I would not do.

If something happens you realize you're $3500. will not refunded immediately.

And it isn't always easy to just buy something with a credit card for that much. Credit card banking institution might require you to OK the transaction.

Generally yes it would be covered by eBay's buyer protection  policy, which they call the "Money Back Guarantee":
