Search by Category is Massively Broken

Every week some feature is broken that was working fine before. If I try to search in a category, it shows me things that aren't in that category, and nothing that is in it. For example: I go to

Toys and Hobbies / Model Kits / Automotive

and search for ADVENT kits

(I KNOW THERE ARE CORRECT MATCHES FOR THIS)

Instead of showing me all the ADVENT model kits, it shows me page after pages of SPEAKERS and CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS

Obviously none of that stuff is what I'm looking for because it's NOT IN THE CATEGORY, which was MODEL KITS!!!!

IT SHOULD NEVER DO THIS!!!

This is a really simple feature, how could they possibly think it ought to work some crazy way, instead of working right?

Why do they have to keep breaking things? Why? I'm sick of everything that used to work fine becoming worse and worse every day. How much are they paying people to rewrite this entire web site and make it impossible to use?

As a workaround, instead of changing the category and then searching -- which apparently does not work the way you expect it to now -- try searching using your chosen keywords first, and then, once the results have loaded, change the category using the categories shown on the left side of the search results (assuming you are using a desktop browser).

This should allow you to search the category of your choice provided there are results in that category.

You can use the "Tell us what you think" link at the bottom the search results page to report the apparent change in how searching works and your opinion of this to eBay page developers.

If you change your search from "Advent kits" to;  Advent Plastic model kits, that will drop out the Advent audio and Christmas related items. If you want only the automotive kits adding 1/25 scale will do that but will leave out the Sunbeam Alpine, Triumph TR-4, MG-B & Austin Healy 3000, kits which were 1/32 scale.

A search for "Advent plastic model kits" Toys & Hobbies,  returns 68 results, 8 car and 2 Automotive.  There are Japanese "Dark Advent" hentai figure model kits in the results.

You will probably find the kit you want if you search for a particular one as a Revell plastic model kit, Examples: Baja Bug, Porche 914, `26 Ford T Sedan, Yellow Fever (formerly, Ed Roths Outlaw)  Revell created Advent as a lower priced alternative to their poorer selling kits. Many of which were molded in one color plastic, and  did not come with chromed parts or other customizing features.  That experiment only lasted 2 years 1979-80.
