Scammers selling counterfeit currency and eBay doesn’t care

Scammers selling counterfeit currency on EBay, and they could care less.  Talked to half a dozen customer support agents, whom I could barely understand and they informed me that I need to wait for these scammers to provide me a refund and ship them the counterfeit coins back 😂.  I informed them that it’s a felony here in the United States to counterfeit currency, to include possessing and shipping it.  Of course all they could do was keep parroting pre written responses.

What a joke.

And I feel that your personal attack is no argument at all.

Re: Scammers selling counterfeit currency and eBay doesn’t care

Once dishonest sellers realized that ebay was monitoring below market value items they would simply raise the price so that they wouldn't be flagged. Perhaps they wouldn't sell as many but they would still be here. I understand what you are saying and I agree that counterfeits on the site are a problem. But I'm not sure what the solution is.

Buyers do have to take some accountability too. If they see silver for 4 ounces at just over spot price  with free shipping, they should be suspicious.  A well know US site is selling 4 - 1 oz Eagles for around $190.  This seller was asking $108. Do people think that a US coin costs less in China?  If something is too good to be true, it likely isn't true.

At least eBay does give the buyer the option to get their money back by returning the item.  Ebay doesn't have the manpower or knowledge to know for sure if an item is counterfeit or not so they do just say to return the item.  In this case it is very unlikely that the seller in China is going to send a buyer $50+ dollars so that they can send the coin back with tracking.  If they don't do that the buyer can contact ebay's customer service on Facebook who can force the seller to refund without a return. Perhaps you don't care about the money but at the very least try to force a return so that the seller doesn't walk away with it.

Re: Scammers selling counterfeit currency and eBay doesn’t care

I shouldn’t have to wait days and be at the mercy of a scammer to return my money, it’s clearly counterfeit currency which I provided eBay proof of.

No you didn't.

You complained on the phone to a subcontractor who is not paid by eBay (their boss is paid by eBay).

They just want to get you off the phone, fill their quota, and get a pee break.

There is a system to get scammers gone from the site.

You have been told what it is.

Follow it and get your  money back

EBay will remove the scammer sooner or later, because they don't want unhappy buyers.

But they also don't want vigilantes , competitors, and whingers messing up sales.

There is a Money Back Guarantee.

Use it.
