Scammed by seller - My order shows 3 different tracking #'s

Please bear with me as I try to provide accurate details. I placed an order on June 25 . Initially there wasn't any communication from the seller. Then on June 27th around 10 p.m. I received a notice that my coffee maker was delivered at 10 a.m.  that day. That was the first notice of any kind that I received on the coffeemaker.  Unfortunately, I did not receive the coffee maker. At first I thought perhaps the UPS driver made a mistake or that maybe it was delivered to the wrong address.

I contacted the seller and no response.  I've contacted them 3X now and no response.  I glanced again at their feedback and saw a couple of new negatives with similar problems. When I first made my purchase the negatives were not there. (seller has been active for about a year)  When I click the link to view order details it shows not one but two identical coffee makers delivered to my house. Each coffee maker shows a different tracking #.  I went to the UPS website to see if I can obtain some additional information about the 2 packages I supposedly received.

On the UPS website it shows both packages received by  "Smith" (not my name) at the front desk.  My home is in a strictly residential area, there are no businesses, and I certainly don't have a front desk.  Ebay shows me ordering one coffee maker. When I click on ebay order details it shows two identical coffee makers delivered to my home. (although it does not supply my address). Another thing that is odd, the UPS website shows the two packages received by Smith at the front desk at exactly the same time, BUT one shows a weight of 3.4 pounds and the other shows a weight of 12.5 pounds.

If I report this to ebay through their automated system it will show the packaged delivered and I am concerned that they will close the case based upon the fact that the packages are marked delivered. I never received the coffee maker and there is definitely something fishy about this.

I will admit that I am old enough that I should realized the deal was a little too good to be true, but unfortunately it appears they pulled in about 10 others on this coffee maker. They all sold very quickly and I'm pretty sure the other buyers will end up like me and be out $50.

My daughter (also an ebay seller) advised me against reporting this via the ebay automated system as she said they will look and see that it was delivered and close the case. She does not believe they will be inclined to do much digging. She thinks I should call ebay and explain directly to someone what happened. I also have the option of contacting my credit card company and cancelling the transaction, but I'm not sure if ebay will mark that against me.

This is all so frustrating, digging just a little shows that I was scammed by an unscrupulous seller. This makes me angry for a number reasons. For one I am also an ebay seller and things like this encourage buyer distrust.

I am just out the $50 dollars?

I suggest trying to get a hold of trust and safety. It is possible that a Members ID was stolen and that someone else is using their account for fraudulent purposes.

I was talking to My postmaster who says that every package is delivered has the GPS of where it is delivered. Are You close to a UPS office? will they tell You anything about where it is delivered so You can retrieve the packages sent?

This is a hole that eBay needs to close. eBay considers the item delivered IF it is delivered to any place that also has the same zip code as You do. I have in My address My zip code PLUS the four digits. I hope that helps...I am not sure though...an unscrupulous seller might just remove the plus four. Would be nice IF eBay made everyone in the USA at least use the plus four AND make it so Sellers could not remove it? Every zip code with a plus-four ONLY GOES TO ONE ADDRESS!

So sorry...Hopefully, someone who knows more than I do will advise You on what to do. IMHO the only thing You can do is report it on Your credit card as a fraud purchase. I am not sure how eBay handles credit card chargebacks.

Contact UPS and inquire as to what address is associated with that tracking information. Open up a case on Ebay for Item Not Received, unless you just wish to jump straight to your credit card, but there is a process to things. Granted the bots are going to at first deny the claim because tracking indicates delivery to your zip code but you need to get the information from UPS to provide to Ebay as I am sure there is an incorrect address with that tracking. You will have to appeal the decision by calling in to someone and providing them the information. Ebay knows this loop hole exists and so long as you can show the tracking number was sent to a wrong address you will receive your refund. UPS can also GPS the exact delivery location if the address was correct and they mis-delivered it.

Get a statement from UPS that confirms that it was not delivered to your address.

I don't know if UPS will inform you of the address to which it was actually delivered.

EBay cs will advise if they require that you to do anything more
