I bought an item and need to return it for SNAD. It was shipped to me Priority and cost $6.75 to ship (4 lbs). So I go to return it today and teh seller gave me a FIRST CLASS shipping label (I didnt realize this until the label printed out and I was ready to stick on teh box.
1. How do I cancel this lable and print a new one?
2. Isnt the seller on the hook to provide the same level/cost of postage for the return
3. Is the seller trying to guarantee that hte item never comes back to him?
4. Can I print my own label from Paypal with the correct postage and still be covered or is it Ebay label or no label?

Open a SNAD (not as described) case; seller will have eBay send you a correct label, which the seller will pay for. You can open a not as described case throught the Resolution Center, select the item you want to return. The important thing is to have tracking, which wil be uploaded into the case when the label is generated. When the tracking shows delivery, you should get your refund.
I don't think a 4 lb package can go first class mail, I googled this and that does not seem to be the case, but hopefully someone will come along to confirm or deny.

Is it an eBay return label provided through the return process?

4 lbs definitely WONT go FC (I sell jewelry all the time and it caps at 16 oz/1 lb). And yes it was the label EBAY gave me to use to return the item. I didnt even think about the weight or cost because I kinda (foolishly) thought Ebay had already factored that in.

What do the last two lines say at the bottom of page 2 on the return label?

Just the usual nonsense about not shipping hazardous materials and the maximum size of 108 inches total weight not to exceed 70 lbs. It says very clearly FIRST CLASS and "No postage necessary if mailed in the United States". Just getting wierder and weirder.

return labels work differently you should still be able to use that label

I thought that a case hadn't been opened and that the seller just sent the OP a label.
But I could be wrong, so thanks, lintbrush*.
But if a case hasn't been opened, that could correct this issue with the label.
Just some thoughts!

I sure hope so cuz Im shipping it out. I need the refund so I can buy an item that will actually work.

Ok, now I see it was from a case.
I think a call to eBay CS may be in order.
I think the case gives a seller the option to send the label himself or to have eBay do it.
If this is true, maybe the seller chose to send the label and sent the wrong one.
Have read that it is recommended to have eBay send the label.

Myangelandmyprincess may be right.
I think return labels don't show the postage on them. I think they go opened ended postage to allow for proper weighing as in the event of a buyer adding packing material or if the seller mis-weighted the item. To be sure the proper amount of postage is applied.
Just an idea.
Most important thing is the tracking, though. You need that to prove delivery to the seller to get your money back.

Does it say First Class Package Service
or First Class return service.
I think that matters.

You can mail up to 70 pounds with a first-class "Return Service" label.
Just affix the label and ship it back.

It says PACKAGE return! So maybe that is whats up. Thousands of purchases and sales and I have never seen this - shows how rarely I return anything. Thanks. I'll use the label. I just didnt want it to go into the PO black hole and not get delivered for insufficient postage or come back because I used the wrong label.

If it says First Class Package RETURN Service, then the weight does NOT matter.
