Is there a way to disable these notifications? Just because I looked at an item, doesn't mean I want notifications about it. If I did, I would watch the item. If there is no way, I might delete the app since it is more annoying than anything.

There is a way go to your account settings then communication preferences
In communication preferences go to Buying activity there you can uncheck offers to buyers and anything else that would be potentially annoying to you.

As of August, 2024 and unless I missed something, there is NO WAY to turn OFF "Recently Viewed Items." Yes, lots of options in Communication Preferences, but not this newly introduced feature. Pain in the you know what! Ebay is trying to suck every Penny (or whatever your smallest country change is) out of us. I might be viewing a product or just curious of a product. If I didn't buy the item and didn't mark it as a WATCH ITEM, I don't want to hear about it requiring me to automatically have to delete it... Daily. Please EBAY, stop the sanity and let us unclick "Recently Viewed Item."
Followers... If this annoys you or simply wastes your time, let it be known here with our community. Thank you!

It's very annoying! The only "fix" I was able to find is deleting everything from recently viewed in the app. I know it's not the greatest option, but at least there you can check mark everything and delete them all at the same time, without having to do it one by one.

This is extremely annoying, eBay do better

Agree 100% with the original poster. Just because I view an item doesn't mean I'm interested -- I'm viewing it to see if I might be interested. It's extremely annoying to get notifications for viewed items, such as "auction about to close" or "seller offer", that are not in my watch list.
To clarify, I want those notifications for items in my watch list, just not for items I simply view. So turning off all such notifications is not an option. Please fix this.

Still nothing? I have an older version of the app because the most recent iterations are so bad - but this is nuts.
If you can now turn off this garbage, I'll take the update

@id.printers two things:
1. Go to this page on the website:
https://commspreferences.ebay.com/commsprefs
Under Buying Activity, uncheck "Offers to buyers" near the top. Save changes.
2. On the app go to My eBay > Settings > Notifications and adjust your preferences there as needed.

Will that not also block offers on items I'm ACTUALLY watching?

Yes, it will.
It's all or nothing.
We all want more granularity and the ability to turn off offers for items viewed while keeping offers for items on our watch list / in our cart - but eBay hasn't shown any signs of providing that option.
Sometimes I shop while logged out and once I decide what I want I view that item while logged in - that way I won't get offers on stuff I viewed while logged out. Maybe that will help @id.printers .

I definitely appreciate this workaround - it's just nonsense that we have to do it. Kinda suggests that something isn't working properly...hmmm
I tried downloading a bunch of old versions that used to work, but they have blocked them all from accessing the site. It's kind of funny, all of the old versions worked well and were 20MB apps, now it's a 240MB app that everyone seems to complain about.

It's not app-specific - same thing happens on the web. It's definitely a point of friction between eBay and its users.

Yikes
Well, they've been driving sellers away for some time now, might as well scare off some buyers while they're at it
