So I bid on a unopened cassette player. I open it. Put brand new batteries in it and it does not turn on. Not the player nor the radio. The seller does not accept returns. What do I do? Am I out the money I spent? I did send the owner a message but after reading his rant for his items in general I don't see his response being polite when he does reply.

How was the item described? “For parts”? “Used”?

You are protected by ebay's Money Back Guarantee (MBG) no matter what the seller's return policy is. You can use the drop down menu to the right of the item title in your purchase history or click on the Resolution Center button at the bottom of most ebay pages. To file an item not as described (INAD) dispute. It would be a good idea to contact the seller first and tell them the player did not work, and if they tell you to send it back, file the INAD dispute.
Before filing read the terms and pay attention to the time frames of the MBG.

You appear to have tagged on to someone else's problem here. Plus it's hard to understand your issue. If you received an item that's not as described, follow directions given above.
If that's not the issue, then please start your own thread, detailing more clearly the problem.
"They said it changed into unlawful" has me (and probably others) stumped.
