Problem with bid

Hello. I am a new user, I have been registered for 2 days. I buy goods at a fixed price, but I can not participate in auctions. Could you help me.

Re: Problem with bid

We've all gone through that phase with new accounts, there is no way around it. You can only buy fixed price items at first, then after you establish yourself more on ebay through those purchases, those restrictions will be removed. After a few "buy it now" purchases if you still cannot bid on auctions, contact customer service to see if they can override the bots.

To contact customer service use the "help & contact" link and you can either have them call you or chat. To chat with agent, open the automated chat and choose the option at the bottom "contact an agent", then you will be connected to a live agent.

Re: Problem with bid

@imedageo,

AS a new member you have temporary limits on how many items you can buy and how much you can spend at any one time, in a 24 hour period.  The link below explains some of the limits.  There is a few suggestions in the link that can help get the limits removed more quickly.  You also have a limit on how many bids you can place, which I'll explain below.  If you cannot place a bid at all it could be for two reasons.  1) your registration may not yet be in ebay's system since you just signed up yesterday.  2) The seller may not ship to your country, Georgia.

https://www.ebay.com/help/buying/buying-limits/buying-restrictions?id=4012

What is not explained in the link is what are called Open Transactions.

  An Open Transaction is:

  • Items you have committed to buy, but have not yet paid for.
  • Offers you have made that have not yet been accepted / declined, or that a seller has sent a counter offer  you have not responded to.  Most offers or counter offers expire after 48 hours if no action is taken. Some may have a shorter time limit.
  • All bids on auctions that are still active. Any bid you place remains active even if you are outbid, until the auction ends.  That is because someone who has bid more could retract their bid(s) or a seller could cancel another bidder's bid(s) for some reason, and you could end up winning.
  • You will be limited to 4 or 5 open transaction you can have at any one time.
  • As you pay for items you have committed to buy, win an auction, have an offer accepted / declined or you accept or decline a counter offer.  Once you pay for the item(s) you get the number of bids or offers back to use again, usually within a couple of hours, but some times it can take up to a day for them to be credited back.

Because of the open transaction limit you should learn to bid by placing automatic bids.  Those would be a bid for the most you are willing to pay for an item.  eBay will only use as much of that bid as needed to keep you in the lead of an auction, until you win or are outbid.  If you place that bid in the last hours or minutes, other bidders will have less time to react,  you will also know quickly if you have won or lost and can get the open transaction back while you are still limited.  To possibly avoid a tie when you place your bid, adding a few odd Kopeks or Euros Example: €50.01 or a bit more.  can cause you to win an auction at the very end.  There s information about bidding in the link below.

One last thing you need to know.  When shopping You cannot place auction listings or items you will make an offer on in the Cart. The Cart only works with Buy It Now listings.  If you place an auction/offered item in the cart it freezes the information at the time you add it in the cart.  Auction or items you will make an offer on, should be saved in your Watch list.  If you win or have an offer accepted you can pay directly from the listing or an invoice you will be sent.   If you are only going to buy 1 item you can pay from the listing.  Use the Cart if you are going to buy multiple items from one or more sellers and only want to pay once.

Re: Problem with bid

Thanks for the feedback. As for the address, the address to be sent to USA I have specified so that will not be the reason. See the attached file, it will send me such a message. Thanks

Re: Problem with bid

Which kills off the auction format for new users trying to bid on antiques and hard to find items.

That setting should be left up to the seller, not ebay.

No one had to go thru this until a few years ago. I'm sure they added it because new sellers(and some older ones) list common items at auction instead of fixed price.
