Order moved, left no address but correct. Weird tracking situation through USPS

I recently didn’t receive a package but I got news of what happened.

There were two packages using the same shipping label that were to my state and zip code. One didn’t have my name or address on it and was documented by USPS, when I first went to the PO they said there was nothing they could give me or do because it wasn’t related to me at all. This package was marked refused on the 5th as the person who got it, refused it straight away. The second package which I was assuming was mine went to a business on the 5th who signed for a lot of packages at once, but was refused on the 8th once they realized the package wasn’t for them. I’m assuming this second package was mine because the PO told me that the package required a signature from me (my name I gave to the seller. Both packages are on it’s way back to the seller and the most recent update on USPS is “Moved, Left no Address”. If I opt for a refund because I haven’t received anything, would I be safe because nothing was delivered to me? Ebay is showing it as delivered because the package that was signed for marked it as delivered on the 5th. The seller is also only showing me that it was signed for on the 5th but hasn’t given refunding me a thought, only thinking that I or my neighbors have my package, when in reality I have nothing. My neighbors also know me, so it wouldn’t have gotten delivered to them. Any insight on if I’ll be covered or any steps I should take?

You'll need to get a letter from USPS stating the packages were not addressed to you and were sent back to the seller.

Have a great day.

@nicholjo-53

Is this the same problem you posted about already?

You have 21 replies, you were told if you file Item Not received you are going to lose.  You were told what you need to obtain from USPS, and you were given the social media links to use to reach customer service that is familiar with your problem.  Or is this yet another?

Hi,

I’ve done everything that was given to me in that last post. Upon going to the PO for the 5th time this week I was able to get some info regarding my package which I put here. I wasn’t too sure if it still related because apparently the address was correct, but the fact that there were two packages and only one was for me is why the PO was mixed up I guess. They told me the postmaster was on vacation, but since they knew about my situation that they’d take my contact info to let me know if I could get any further info or even to explain my case to the postmaster once he returns. Just checking to see if Ebay who would now see the refusal of both packages and now marked “Addressee Unknown” and “Moved, Left no Address” would refund me because both packages are now being returned to the sender. None of them came to my shipping address I gave.

The only way forward now @nicholjo-53 is to return exactly what you received, which is nothing, to get your refund. Stop going to the post offices, and stop talking to the seller, or trying to talk to eBay on Facebook without any proof.

Instead, close your item not received case if eBay hasn't already. Then go back to select Return this item and start a return request using the Missing parts or pieces reason.

Upload a photo taken from the listing showing what you should have received.

Don't use one line for the comment -- break it into two lines.

Then click the Submit button.

Indeed 2 packages with the same tracking number went back, so your return request does apply to whichever missing item the seller sent has been returned.

If you still don't get a refund or a prepaid return label anytime during the next 3 business days, go back after that to step in to get help. If you get a return label, affix it to a box, enclose the packing slip if any and a copy of your return request, then mail that to get your refund.

@nicholjo-53,

I really wish that you had given us the information about there being two packages using the same tracking number, that had Delivered scans, one being undeliverable, and the other being returned, after being signed for. That info would have been very important.

Which P.O. that you went to, told you their Postmaster was on vacation?  The one in your town, or the one near to your work place.  Though I am sure there are some very rural post offices who do not have an assistant postmaster, I know of one that has 1 postmaster, 1 clerk, and 3 carriers.  One of the two should have had an assistant postmaster you could speak to.

It would seem your big mistake was saying that there were two packages instead of just one that had your tracking number. Did you go to the P.O. near your work yesterday?  If so tell us exactly what you told them, and what they told you.  This may require more help than you've received so far.

FYI, The info posted in the last reply would not help with your problem, even if there was only one package that you are dealing with.

Order moved, left no address but correct. Weird tracking situation through USPS

Hi again,

I only recently found out about the two packages yesterday when they explained. Yesterday I went to the second PO (one near my work) and asked for more info regarding what I thought was only one package.  They told me that they couldn't access anything from the PO near my address, but was able to show me how much the package weighed, and the shipping updates (This package weighed one ounce, which isn't near enough to be a camera lens, BUT was for the package not addressed to me. I didn't know this at the time, only believing there was one.) They confirmed that my address was indeed on that tracking number, and instructed me to go to the first PO (one near my home) and request a delivery supervisor, give them my tracking number and ID, and ask what happened to my package. I tried to ask for the document he had printed regarding the shipping weight, but was told he couldn't release it to me. I thanked him for his help then left.

I then went back to the first PO (one near my home) and did exactly that, ask for the supervisor I've already spoken to, and gave him the tracking info and my ID again. I asked for him to double check because my ID matches what's on the tracking number (as confirmed by the PO near my work). Upon checking he tells me that there was two packages tied to that same number, which is my first time hearing this. He then explained that they were unable to release the info on the first package because it wasn't addressed to me. This first package they had pictures of, and were able to see and match up with my address but of course didn't. But upon going and checking this time, they told me there was another package tied to the tracking number that they didn't have photos of. This package is believed to be mine only on the fact that my name was the one that was supposed to sign for the package. This second package was taken to a business which they told me receives the most amount of packages in the area, and was most likely signed once with a whole bunch of other packages. This package was refused a couple days later upon the business realizing.  The first package (with no ties to me) was attempted and refused on the 5th, and refused that same day. The second package (which is believed to be mine) was signed for by that business, but not refused until the 6th.  This is why two "Refused" pops up on my tracking info. I'm told that both packages are being returned to the sender, and one (or two I'm not really sure) is out for delivery today (the 10th). But the first PO (near my home) now understood my situation, and took down my details to contact me if there were any updates. It's still unknown if the second package is actually the item that I ordered, as they have no photos of this package (which is why they didn't know that it existed), but it did require my signature so it may be or may not be the correct package.

This first PO is the one that has the Postmaster on vacation, but I was told by the supervisor (the one who took my info down) that he would let me know if he was able to contact the Postmaster (although he wasn't to keen on contacting the Postmaster on vacation, which I understood). They also told me that the Postmaster was the only one that would be able to release any info on my current situation. This is where it stands now, both packages being returned to sender soon, and a mishap at the post office.

I'm sorry if that was a very big read, I'm trying to put down as much info as possible. But do let me know if I need to clarify anything else.

Really huge thanks for keeping up with my posts, I really do appreciate the help you're giving.
