Offer for multiple items

4 problems

1. A seller offers a lot for say $10. However he has 10 lots available.

Imagine I make an offer to purchase all 10 each for $7... then I wait.

When I review my offers, NOWHERE does it say I offered $70 for 10 lots... NOWHERE

How can I make sure that the seller does not simply sent me one lot for $70.

2. Furthermore when a seller accept an offer, later I cannot find the asking price anywhere.

3. The seller ships the item, however the post-office returns the item back to the seller... for whatever reason.

I cannot complain to anybody... have to wait for a month. In my case the tracking number already said that the item was out for delivery... but it never arrived.

NOWHERE on ebay is even considered the possibility that shippers sometimes do return packages.

4. It happened over the years several times. The item was listed as "delivered" but it did never arrive at my house. This happened when the shipper (mostly USPS)  delivers the package to the wrong address.

I know, because sometimes the false recipient is an honest person and I still get the package weeks later.

However NOWHERE on ebay is there a procedure where I can officially complain.

After all these years, ebay is still deeply flawed.

There MUST be a place on the ebay web-site where I can address the out of the ordinary problems and I  MUST be able to talk to a person.

The so called HELP feature has nothing but patronizing standard answers . It never was helpful with anything.

Re: Offer for multiple items

1. When you pull up the Make Offer screen on a multi-lot listing you enter the per item price you're offering (in your example the item would be one lot). Then you also enter the quantity you wish to purchase.

2. When an offer is accepted, the original price no longer shows. If it's important to you, make a note of it or print the listing before you make your offer.

3. Your options in this scenario depend on why the package was returned (and yes, eBay has written guidelines on this, so they do consider the possibility). If the package was returned as undeliverable, eBay will side with the seller in a not received case. It's then up to you to work with the seller and the carrier to determine why it was undeliverable. If it's returned for any other reason, all you have to do is wait until the day after the last estimated delivery date, then open a not received case.

4. How is USPS misdelivering a package something that's the fault of eBay or the seller? The entity to which you need to complain is the carrier that misdelivered the package.

Re: Offer for multiple items

Are these hypothetical problems?

1.) Personally, I would make the Offer on one item. Then I would include a Message that I actually would like to buy all ten at $7.00 and ask if he would make a special listing for me, including shipping.

Once all those are negotiated and the seller lists my special deal, pay and get the lot of ten.

2.) Yes. EBay protects future sales by that seller, by not advertising what discounts he may have allowed to other buyers.

As a seller, I have given large discounts to returning buyers that I would never consider giving as a one-off.

3.) the possibility that shippers sometimes do return packages.

An item that is returned to the seller is considered to be Undeliverable, and the seller is not actually required to refund anything.

https://www.ebay.com/help/policies/ebay-money-back-guarantee-policy/ebay-money-back-guarantee-policy...

The idea seems to be that the buyer must provide an useable address. If she can't do that... it is neither the seller's fault nor responsibility.

This is where eBay steps back and the buyer and seller have to negotiate. Perhaps the seller prefers to refund and end the transaction. Perhaps the buyer is willing to pay for return shipping. Perhaps the seller is going to keep the money and the item .

4.) This happened when the shipper (mostly USPS) delivers the package to the wrong address.

This is a corollary to #3.

The package is delivered according to the shipper.  How it ended up at someone else's house is a good question, but it is not the fault or the responsibility of the seller.

Like a porch pirate is the only one responsible for a theft after delivery, the neighbour is the only one responsible for correcting the error.

The buyer should be contacting the local postmaster and filing a police report, in case the problem is a ring of pirates, rather than human error on the part of the carrier.

Re: Offer for multiple items

1. maybe

2. ok makes sense

3. I have received thousands of packages which were deliverable. I have no idea why this package was returned to sender. I speculate, since the seller told me in a message that the item was damaged in shipping.

The sad part of the story is, that ebay does not arbitrate this dispute, in fact they do not even consider the possibility that this could ever happen, but it does. No human is ever involved in the dispute.... you can click a few buttons and when this button does not exist, you are out of luck.

4. You can file a report with the local postmaster, but this is like complaining to the emperor of China. The whole idea of ebay is that disputes can be settled or at least filed. When a package is listed as delivered, there is NOTHING to file... no button, no link, nothing, regardless if it actually was received.

Actually I have a few more grievances if anybody cares.

For instance this will make you laugh...

The package arrived empty. What to do? I was told to send it back... whaaat? Then I was told to make pictures of the emptiness... lol

This one did cost me $300

here is another one:

Seller simply cancels order when he does not like the auction price... nothing you can do. You get your money back obviously.

Other buyers drive up the auction price, but cancel when they win the auction. It is not allowed, but it happen all the time. Some "buyers" do this quite regularly, so I wonder. Ebay does not care.

Want more?
