Did you mean:

Occupied Japan

Why now do we get 3000 more items a day that is non related to the chosen subject to roll through?  In this case the subject is Occupied Japan.   It's ANNOYING!!  Needs to go back to the subject and subject only!!

Re: Occupied Japan

Because of keyword spamming?

Occupied Japan what?

add a word like toys, 20,000 listings becomes 300; Occupied Japan tools, 3 listings, get specific.

Re: Occupied Japan

Since 1990 something when you put in the words Occupied Japan, you got just that....anything that was stated to be or marked Occupied Japan, nothing more.  That is if someone wasn't misinformed or trying to pass non OJ as OJ.  There are too many categories to go name searching.   Now Occupied Japan search all of a sudden has 3000 more items a day that DO NOT belong in an Occupied Japan search.  Been doing this for 20 years.

Re: Occupied Japan

The default Search is Best Match.

But there are several others including Highest/Lowest Price and Ending Soon.

Then there is Category- like Toys or China and Glass.

Then there are the left margin specific Searches like price, location, condition, or free returns/shipping.

If you know what you are looking for, it really helps to let the Search program know what it is.

Re: Occupied Japan

eBay search is probably dysfunctional. Nobody seems to be able to find my albums either 😞

Re: Occupied Japan

I've been on ebay for 20 years and here's the point.....when you search a particular subject and for 20 years that is what came up in the subject and THEN 3000 more items come up that are NOT related, then there's been some sort of change.  Occupied Japan is a collectible that has probably 20 sub categories and to search each category or ANY OTHER thing is ridiculous.  And guess what, I did try that and the rogue stuff shows up ANYWAY!!

It is entirely possible that eBay has recently changed the way that searches work, or rearranged categories so that where previously you were searching a more narrow category, now you are seeing results throughout the site. eBay makes changes like that from time to time. As someone who searches a lot on eBay, I do not like it when a search that has worked for me for a long time suddenly stops working the way I expect.

I do not know how many search results a general search for "occupied japan" (without the quotes) turned up months ago, but if you do such a search now, you will find 20,000 results. To make that more manageable, you will most likely need to add additional search key words or exclusion terms, or narrow the category or scope of the search, or some combination of all of those. Putting quotes around the terms to limit results to titles that have that exact phrase, gets it down to about 16,700 results.

If you could provide some idea of what sorts of items you are trying to find, or what sorts of items you wish to avoid, someone might be able to provide suggestions to help you.

For example, here is a search for the phrase "occupied japan" (with quotes) of all listings that have started in the last 24 hours, which currently turns up about 400 results:

https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_trkparms=5926%3AKEYWORD%7C5079%3A0&_from=R40&_oac=1&_nkw=%22occupie...

Re: Occupied Japan

Thanks, that might be worth a try.  16,000 is about what WAS normal.  Ebay was so much better when items couldn't be listed over and over and over, things that don't sell because many times the seller is overpriced.  And the market has totally changed, meaning the quality of items available AND including the desire.  That is a whole other discussion.  🙂

One of the drawbacks of a site like eBay is that the great deals go fast, and the dogs hang around forever.

You just need to make sure that you are the early bird, worm-wise.
