Negative feedback left for seller is gone

Wondering if anyone has any thoughts about this. Today I left my 2nd negative feedback in 16 years on eBay. The first one was a transaction that took 4 months to receive half of the order, then seller stopped communicating with me. There was no other choice at that point. I've been disappointed with sellers before but never would leave a feedback if that were the case. Only when someone totally drops the ball do they deserve a negative in my book.

So on to my second one. I purchased an item listed as open box. When I receive the item, not only is it not in "open box" condition, the label on the box states refurbished. I open the box and there are signs of wear on the item, scratches and such. I email seller immediately with photos, no response. Email again 2 days later, no response. Open a case with eBay and 2 days later I receive a return label. I send it back and after it is received a few days after that I receive a 75% refund and seller claims there is more damage to the item with no photos as evidence (how the hell does someone even do a partial refund on an SNAD return). There was no further damage to the item, at least not when I shipped it. I bring it up with eBay and they refunded me the extra 25%. I'm not sure if they did a courtesy refund or if the deducted it from the seller.

So that 75% refund was what put me over the edge to leave a negative. My feedback said more or less "lied about condition, lied about return, had to case up with eBay for refund". Nothing derogatory.

Was it that the item had been returned and a case closed on it that removes feedback? If so, that's pretty poor. I can see that on a item not received, but not when a seller deceitfully tries to misrepresent the item, and the return. The condition once returned is irrelevant to me. I received an item that wasn't as described and provided evidence of it the same day I received it. Seller chose to ignore my emails, then lie about the return.

I think if you initiate a NAD return, you cannot leave negative feedback.

This is my impression. I could be wrong.

"had to case up with eBay for refund"

That is what got it removed.

You can not mention cases.. Edited to add( investigations).

Yup, meanwhile I tried to get one removed as a seller...

Buyer claimed we sent the wrong size, we did not.

We most certainly did not, mostly because it's the only size I presently STOCK!

So the reason we gave for removal was "buyer error"

Ebay's decision, the feedback stays.

It is what it is, I'd certainly like to know how certain sellers seem to get away with it time after time.

Sometimes if the feedback refers to an ebay case, it can be deleted.

Glad you were given a courtesy refund by ebay for the difference; the way you describe the sellers actions makes the seller look very dishonest, imo.

That seller's probably sold that same club 15 times, making a profit every time.

As for your feedback? You think "lied about condition, lied about return . . ." isn't derogatory? I suppose calling someone a liar in a public forum like that probably isn't the very best idea you'd ever come up with. It would seem your anger has gotten in the way of your goal. In my family, that was called, "cutting off your nose to spite your face" or "hoisted by your own petard."

The second half of your feedback--"had to case up with eBay for refund"--is against eBay policy, as well. You can mention that you filed a case, but you cannot mention the outcome of that case (the "for refund" part). That's grounds for feedback removal.

I don't think so. I have negative feedback and there's an open NAD case. eBay won't even think about removing the "poo" comment the guy made until the case is closed.

I'm not sure this matters... I really want my coin back ASAP and the buyer is a little hot to trot to get it here for his refund. Then I'm going to request a revision.

The seller sounds like they are abusing free returns policy if you truly sent it back in the condition you received it. Because the seller offer free returns they reserve the right to refund up to 50% less of the purchase price if the items is not in the condition they shipped it. IE Broken, Missing Items, Damaged etc.. So this seller refunded you less 25% which also reports your account to eBay and removes any negative feedback left on the transaction.

I would contact eBay and report the seller if they truly did you wrong.

TRS offering returns gets a "perk" of "auto scrubbing" of negative feedback if they accept the return.  No muss, no fuss. It is done automatically.

Buyer can appeal to eBay to get the remaining refund if a seller with holds a %age.

I'm not sure what you mean about a seller selling the same club 15 times. My purchase was a Sonos speaker.

I do not think saying someone lied about a listing is derogatory. If it looks like a duck... Seller's item didn't match description regarding condition, then wouldn't respond to my emails about how they wanted to handle it (may have kept it at a lower price) then said the item was further damaged during return (I literally took the speaker out of the box, saw the poor condition, took photos and put it back in the box), providing no proof of said damage, and shorting me money. If that's not a tell tale sign of a liar then I don't know what is. My goal was to let other buyers know the seller is being dishonest and maybe they should consider shopping elsewhere.

All, after reading the replies, I was unaware about the "mentioned a case and refund" aspect of this. Like I said it was only the second one I had ever left. That's probably what caused it. Hopefully it wont matter and I won't have to leave anymore negative feedbacks going forward.

The neg for slow delivery may not have been warranted as if the delay was due to Covid and international or domestic shipping  delays that would not have been the sellers fault and grounds for removal. For the open box item that the seller did not disclose the item was refurbished and had wear, when you opened the return request did you include pictures to document the issue? Or did the seller just accept the return with out asking for proof. If the seller did not ask for proof and you did not include picture documenting your claim. The seller could have disputed the feedback claiming you were not being honest and they approved the feedback rather than risk a defect and bad feedback effecting their seller rating.

Have you called and talked to eBay to see why the 2 feedbacks were removed.

The first negative wasn't removed, and it was 3 years ago. I only mentioned it because todays was only the second negative I ever left, and the first one was literally 4 months of back and forth with a seller who then just stopped replying to my messages after sending the first item of 2 that I ordered, about 6 weeks after purchase. That negative was more than warranted.

I did include photos of the wear in both the message to seller, and the case. I'm just even more perplexed on how a seller can sell an item that is NAD, then offer a partial refund claiming it was returned in a different condition. I paid for a new, open box item, didn't get one. I'm glad eBay took care of me but I hope it didn't come out of their pocket.

Oh, good grief. Who knows how I got "club" out of your post. Maybe I was thinking of another thread about golf clubs when I responded to you! 😂

As far as calling someone a liar is concerned, as Dr. Phil would say, "How'd that work out for ya?"

Yes, as I mentioned in my Message #6, above:
