I bought an item that was over $400 and with expedited shipping. The seller didn't update with any tracking information by Wednesday and I decided to reach out just to touch base, even if it has only been 2-3 business days since purchasing. No response.
eBay's estimated delivery date was on the following Friday from the purchase date, but nothing ever showed up. I opened up a request and I have to wait until August 6th for eBay to step in. About an hour ago, the seller finally updates the order with a tracking number, but it says that it was delivered last Monday. I have multiple people in the house during the day, so someone would've seen it as soon as it got to the house. We checked the cameras and UPS never even came that day.
The seller hasn't responded to any messages or communicated with me. They just dropped the tracking number in and disappeared again. Over the weekend, I saw that someone added a negative review saying that they didn't receive their item and it was the same exact one that I bought.
It's just so confusing. All I know is that I don't have the item. The seller isn't responding and I even thought it was a dead account at one point.
Has this happened to anyone else? What should I do until Friday?

@sparksmas
Since tracking shows it was delivered, Ebay will close the case in the sellers favor.
Contact UPS and give them the tracking number and see what you can find out.
There's a good chance the package wasn't even addressed to you.
They can't tell you the address it was shipped to, but they can tell you that it wasn't your address.
If it was a different address, see if you can get it in writing, then use that to appeal the case.

Check with UPS to verify the details of the tracking #, most likely it is not for you. Then go back to eBay and submit a claim, indicating that tracking # provided does not belong to you, and that it was delivered to another person address.

I contacted UPS and they confirmed it was a fraud seller.
I'm working on getting it in writing and if eBay doesn't help, I'll take it up with the CC company.

You don't need anything in writing @sparksmas as the UPS tracking details already speaks volumes for itself.
Just leave a private message for eBay on Facebook here
to get your refund in one step.

Thank you!! I'll do this when I get to work today.

Update: I heard from eBay on Facebook and the rep who responded insisted the delivery was correct and also twisted my words. He was really quick about dismissing this. I even showed the email I got from UPS.
Looks like I'm taking this to the CC company.

This time, leave out "the email I got from UPS" (or any letter that UPS "wrote") which they procedurally have to suspect you altered as it passed through your hands, the claim beneficiary, before reaching them.
Just point to the
- weight, and
- date shipped
both displayed publicly on the tracking details, which cannot be altered and which everybody can see, to get your refund.

Okay, I’ll try it again.
Maybe I should be more clear with my explanation about the discrepancies regarding the timing as well.
It makes no sense that the label was created after the package was supposedly shipped.

Keep it simple.Show that tracking shows delivery to a zip different than the one in the order details

The disadvantage I have with that is that the zip code/area is the same as mine, but the street address is completely different.
Other people with the same issue found that the tracking numbers they were given were for packages sent to restaurants in the same area as them from a sender with the name Amazon in it. This was the exact same info I was provided with during my call with UPS.

Yes, focus on the weight:
- What does your item weigh?
- What does the UPS tracking weigh?
Hence, it's not your item, and -- that tracking number cannot prove your delivery.

Unfortunately, my situation wasn't as drastic as yours. The seller really cut it close with the weight and location, despite my item only weighing a couple of ounces.
I tried again and strictly followed your advice this time. Someone from eBay CS ended up calling me and they sent me a link to upload the email I got from UPS. Even though it's not officially resolved, they said I should expect to be refunded.
So, we shall see.

Your exactly right. Check with USPS. They won't give you the address but will definitely tell you that it wasn't your address and will provide you with the information needed to support your case. The same thing happened to me. Ebay doesn't do simple investigation. Instead they lie and protect the dishonest seller.

Most credit card companies will do the research themselves and many you can dispute on line. You don't even have to call anymore. Now that you know the seller is a cheater, maybe just do that.
