Is it OK for sellers to invent their own Model numbers for things?

I realize that being a collector and a Commodore history buff makes me more than a bit **bleep** about some things, but this eBay listing for a Commodore CM-141 monitor, which has been around for several months, bothers me.   He calls it a "1903", but as near as I can tell, he just made that up.   However, there's no way to tell him through Contacta, and I can't find any policy he's broken to report it, so that he can know.  Have I missed something?  Is it really OK just to make up your own Make/Model information?

It is likely a typo, since on both the number row and the number pad, 3 is right next to 2.

It was likely supposed to be a 1902 monitor.  Since such an explanation is so obvious, why would you think it was intentional?  Occam's Razor and all, yaknow.

If it works, sell it. If it works well, sell it for more. If it doesn't work, quadruple the price and sell it as an antique.
