This is very annoying. I sell stuff on ebay myself and right before I'm about to add a new item i search for it to find out its pricing and click on the option to "sell one like this" so I don't have to put all the details about the item. Here is the problem I'm having... and is upsetting the heck out of me.
I keep getting offers for the items I'm selling and keep thinking that these are offers that potential buyers are making on MY items. but NOOOO, these are offers that other sellers are sending me about the items I happen to view because I'm using the existing description.. I've accidentally click on 2 items already thinking that someone was MAKING an offer to purchase my item. **bleep**?.. Can you guys at ebay PLEASE fix this?
It's VERY confusing. It needs to say in bold letter that this offer is to BUY the item and not to ACCEPT the offer. If I'm thinking that someone is making a reasonable offer to purchase my item, it makes sense that I click on "Accept this offer" because I'm thinking I just sold my item. But it's the complete opposite.
PLEASE HELP! I have to waste so much time explaining to the seller that I thought s/he was a buyer of my ite. and that I clicked on it thinking I was selling it.
So annoying... uggghhh!

Exercise caution on receiving offers, just another of those cost of doing business on ebay.

Same thing happened to me. I had to look at the photos to see it wasn't my listing, but the one I used to sell one like this. Imagine if you didn't take your own pictures!

Alas! It appears that eBay's AI isn't intelligent enough to differentiate between posting something for sale and searching for something to buy.

Put in the ad listing **NO OFFERS WILL BE ACCEPTED.**

Seems like a handy way to keep tabs on your competition. I get those emails and they seem easy enough to differentiate to me, unless the seller is actually sending you a direct offer on their item, but that I have seen that can only happen when you're watching it or ask questions about it.

The reason you are being sent offers is simple. You are searching through active listings and viewing promoted items in one or more of the listings you open. What you should try doing is Advanced searches of Sold items. You do that by clicking on the Advanced button to the right of the main search button on ebay pages. Enter your item info, then check the sold box. When a listing opens do not click on the photos of items available from other sellers especially the ones that say Sponsored Listings. Those are the ones you are getting offers from.
Using the Sell One Like This option, to save yourself time may end up with you having to deal with a not as described dispute. In checking out your listings I've found a couple of listings that have contradictory information in them, between what is listed in the Item Specifics and your too short one sentence descriptions. Cutting corners when selling on ebay can result in problems if you are not careful.
You should also check to see that the shipping costs you import are correct or reasonable.
If you are going to list items using the auction format, do not use the Quick listing tool which forces you to have Best Offer on your listings or do not add that yourself. You may receive offers but they will be below your starting bid price.

Hi,
I'm fairly certain that you will only receive offers on items that you have added to your watch list.
That's how that works.
Also, it's true that you should be careful about using the "Sell one like this" thing, because
you inherit all the item specifics (and other details you might not think of) that may not be
correct. (I know because I did it once and had all kinds of stupid things in item specifics that
made it a mess!!).

Not true, lately I've just been viewing BIN items I want and then I wait for the special offers before I buy them. I never added them to my watch list. One seller I buy from often, it's like clockwork now, every item I view I get an offer for. It's makes up for the ebay bucks...

Go to your Account>Communication Preferences>Promotions and Surveys, uncheck all the boxes. This cuts out about 90% of the eBay spam.

So basically, it's not a bug, it's a feature?
Interesting attitude. Keep up the positivity!

You can't run an auction listing with Best Offer on it. Sometimes the system will let that option show but it will give an error if it's selected.

You sure can.
And offers can continue being made until the first bid is placed, then the option is automatically removed and any pending offers are auto-rejected.

The same way you expect buyer's to read your listing thoroughly you simply need to do the same, READ thoroughly before accepting an offer...I don't get why ebay seller's are annoyed so easily...Oh, ebay sent me an offer for the competition's item because I viewed it. Oh, The buyer's asking too many questions, BBL. Oh that buyers offer was too low, BBL...
Do you people ever stop complaining. Simple solution to your problem, DON'T view the competing items your selling...If that doesn't solve it for you, go sell somewhere else.
I certainly hope they don't end this feature for a few whiny sellers because it saves me plenty.

Really? How is anyone supposed to be competitive then without looking at competing items they sell? o.O
I guess you could say just look at the price but don't open the listing, but will that solve the problem? Also there may be helpful information in the listing so I can definitely see where it would pay off to actually look at the listings of competitors.
