It's absolutely ridiculous, I now need to pick a payment method to make an offer to a seller.
It's just a way for ebay to gets it's grubby hands on our money faster.
Who else isn't happy about this?

The logic behind this completely escapes me.

As an avid buyer who enjoys the auction process, the thrill is gone. The changes now doesn't show the time and date the auction is up, only how much time you have, forcing you to do math every time you consider an item. And maybe I'm not seeing something (I've only bid twice so far on the new and "improved") there is no more review offer, send offer, commit to offer options that I found very helpful in the last minutes of an auction. Now there is just one commit button that makes me feel like I'm making an offer option rather than an auction.Even the payment process seems to have more complications.I don't know why they want to make it harder and less enjoyable for buyers.Oh well,progress...

Hi, I'm a seller who's been anxiously awaiting the option to require immediate payment on all accepted offers. If not immediate, at minimum a 24 hour time limit. Currently, the only option I can find in seller preferences is 4 days. Can you tell me if there is a way to set that for a shorter amount of time? I hate waiting 4 days for payment. Also, do you happen to know if/when eBay will rollout this immediate payment policy across the board for all buyers? Thanks!

eBay will get its money no matter what if you are seriously going to buy the item. This really has nothing to do with eBay getting their money faster. This is to assure the buyer is serious about the offer they are making and actually have the money to make that offer. The buyer should not make a 1000 dollar offer on an item and not pay to take your item down from the market

Ebay is the only platform where not JUST the method of payment is required- but the ACTUAL payment is required. **bleep** would you make an offer on something and not immediately pay??? I don't get it.
This is what stops me from selling on Ebay. This, and the stupid return policy.

eBay instituted the add payment info and immediate payment if an offer was accepted, because sellers were complaining that accepted offers were not being paid for. The way they went about it was poorly done however. They created a new Buyer Requirement and opted sellers into it, without them knowing. They also ran a test where some buyers were required to give the payment info even if the seller did not have the requirement.
Even though I never use Best Offer, the Buyer requirement below was added to my list with the box checked. I unchecked it.

It is far different. When I am in the shopping mood, I might put in 10 different offers. When one pays through PayPal, this process is very time consuming if the seller requires a payment guarantee. Personally, I find it very annoying, and it makes shopping unenjoyable. So, I don’t use it. The seller requires that I provide my payment details before an offer is submitted, I just go to a different seller.

I am under the impression that the topic being discussed relates only to fixed-price items, not auctions..?

Why wouldn't you want to pay for all 10 offers? If they are all accepted then you have already paid..makes it easier.

Hey Buddy, I buy and sell on eBay. If I make an offer and get it I consider that a win and pay for the item right away as I got what I asked for. You are the entire problem. Quit shopping and start paying... making a bunch of offers and not paying should reinforce eBay to make it like buy it now. If you make an offer why would you not pay??? I would not want you shopping for my stuff. I find people like you very annoying.

You are only looking at this from the buyers perspective. As a seller it is frustrating when you accept someones offer and they take forever to pay. Meanwhile your product is unlisted and in limbo until you get paid. From a business standpoint it only makes sense that if you give someone a good deal then they should pay right away.

You are 100% correct. But the down side to this new rule is the buyers money is tied up until the seller accepts the offer. Some sellers take forever to accept, decline, or counteroffer which puts the buyer at a disadvantage when they really need the item and can now no longer bid on netter deals they find. I agree with this rule change but they need to make offers only good for short periods of time.

Im in the same boat. I buy and sell so I get both sides. One issue I have though is sellers who take forever to accept, decline or counteroffer. With this new rule the buyers money is tied up until the seller responds. What happens if the buyer finds a better deal during this period? Your money is already tied to another offer.

Well I can only assume that you want to make offers you never intend on paying for if this upsets you so much. the great thing is you don't have to use ebay at all.
I know it is a strange concept to actually have to pay for an offer accepted but oh well life is never fair .
Best of luck

I don't know if anyone has responded to your concerns about the FVF yet (I confess, I have not read the entire thread), but when I make a refund and choose "shipping discount" as the reason, the FVF on this refund gets refunded by eBay.
