I got scammed out of $999 for an RTX 4090

I should have reverse searched the images before purchasing, but I got super excited and bought an “RTX 4090” for $999 from this user.

This is the original seller @custompcfactory

I filed a dispute with eBay, and they told me to wait for the seller to respond. My order shows that it’s been delivered, but the tracking number shows a delivery from China to China. I live in the US.

I informed the seller that I’d like a refund for the order, but he hasn’t responded yet.

Any idea how long this process might take, and if there’s a genuine chance I could get my money back? /:

It's the fake tracking number scam.  You stand a chance since it was delivered to China.   I hope you paid by credit card in case the added protection is needed.

Sellers with user names that look computer generated should be avoided.  High value items from a zero feedback seller, like never purchase.

Seller selling high value items from a new account, yep all the ear marks of a scammer.

What simba6 said and maybe just me but I won't buy ANYTHING online from China period. I see so many people getting scammed by Chinese sellers that I just compleately wrote them off. In fact I don't trust foreign sellers except maybe European or Austrailian sellers IF they have tons of glowing reviews and an above 98.6% positive rating.

Just my take on it and I haven't had toubles buying since.

You'll get your money back if what you say is what happened. They have to ship to your address.

Just a note that the Chinese address the item has supposedly been delivered to could be a forwarding agent and the item is technically still in transit.

Or we might simply be looking at a scammer who's not terribly bright.

I just got issued refund, I can assure you the scammer wasn't the brightest. The scammer also used stolen images from a person who was actually selling the product.
