I was recently researching some (embarrassing) products to sell on ebay because I was trying to determine the market and how to list them. Now, ebay keeps recommending these products to me. I was able to clear recently searched or viewed or whatever, but it still displays a plethora of porn under "Frequently searched by you" when I go to ebay.com. How can I get this porn to stop following me? I already listed the box of dvds and am done with it. Like, we have a shared family computer. There's got to be a way to fix this. I already tried searching repeatedly for generic products: the bots still think I'm a porn fiend. 21 years on ebay and the first problem of this kind.

To get rid of the contents of "Fequently Searched by You" all you have to do is enter a new search for anything you can think of. As an example, type "Spandex Halter Top" into the search window and then press the search button. With "Spandex Halter Top" still in the search window, press the search button over and over again. The contents of "Frequently Searched by You" will change to "Spandex Halter Top" after pressing the search button about a dozen or so times.

I'm laughing, with you.
I'm a larger fellow. And I buy 3xl clothing items.
I was looking for a wetsuit a couple of years back and instead of enter 3xl, I entered xxxl.
Needless to say......................
My father has me looking at art as he is a long time buyer/collector.
I'll tell you what, once you look at your first nude on ebay...............
Just roll with it. And do a lot of searches to clear it out like the other person said.
Thank you for posting. That was a fun post. 😉

If you save several searches, your saved searches will replace the Frequently Searched By You section.

They need to take a real look at "Adult" items and keep them locked out of peoples searches. I know it can be done. It is going to be a big problem if they don't fix it. Needs to be taken to court and changed if they don't do it. You are correct. It is NO ONES business when it comes to privacy but your own. The people that sell "Adult" items will surely lose business because people will not want to go to those sites again. I was told twice that all I needed to do was "Keep on searching" but it has been months and it is still there. If eBay doesn't want their customers to start losing money they should change it and DO NOT POST IT ON ANYONE'S PAGE.

It takes about 7 months, and at least 400 searches to do it. And then, if you clear your cookies the older searches come back.

Works!

Sorry but that is not a solution to the question asked. Recently Viewed and Recent Searches are two different lists. I cannot find a way to clear the recent searches thus items you looked for in the past will keep showing up on the main page under "Frequently searched by you." If you know another way to clear the Frequently searched by you list I'd love to hear it.

That doesn't have any effect on the 'Frequently searched by you' list.

Has E bay considered that I may be searching for gifts for other people who happen to use my computer? This will seriously affect what I will be shopping for, basically only things for me. Another way to control the population.

I had my doubts, but it worked. Great job.

The entire issue can be avoided simply by using incognito mode to browse ebay. If you want to make a purchase and not have it show up in your ebay account, just go through the checkout process without logging in. It should give you the option of logging in or continue as a guest.
If it shows up in your purchase history (I'm not sure if it does or not) the way to hide that has already been discussed using the "my account" option.

Dude, You need different login profiles for each user that uses your computer. Just set up a different user and set a password for yours. Otherwise it makes things really annoying. Not just for embarrassing things but all the things where cookies are needed. For example my wife and I would share a profile and every time I go to google it logs in as her and all her stuff that I have no interest in is on my screen.

I know this is old and with a solution already accepted but I found a real solution.
When you are in the ebay page click the search field and a dropdown will appear with the recent searches. Then click the X on the right corresponding to the search you want removed. When you refresh the page it will no longer show that search in the main page of ebay.
