I messaged the seller about a return.

I waited 1 week and did not hear back from the seller.

I started a NAD return request on Dec. 26th.

It says the seller has until Feb. 1st.

That's over a month. Seems kind of long.

I remember it used to be a week or two.

Has ebay increased the time?

Are you sure it's says the SELLER has until Feb 1 or did it say that YOU the buyer has until Feb 1 to escalate from a request to a case?

It gives a link to use if the seller hasn't responded in 3 days for you to ask ebay to step in on your behalf.

If you filed a NAD with eBay the seller should have 3 days to respond, If they fail to respond to the case within the 3 day timeline you can ask eBay to step in and they should resolve in your favor. You should receive a full refund and will probably not be required to return the item.

If the seller responds to the NAD it may be that you have until 1 February to return the item if the seller accepts returns.

Maybe some areas have been evacuated because of a volcano, fires, floods, or they're locked in because of a blizzard and eBay is allowing more time to respond.

. If the 3 day time frame has not elapsed maybe you don't have the option to ask eBay to escalate or step in at the moment and the 1 February date is the default for the case to remain open after which point eBay will close out the case based on any action you and the seller may have taken.

Feb 1 is when your return will time out and close due to inactivity. How ebay comes up with that date I have no idea. I've found the duration varies from time to time.

I'm also not sure what happens if say the seller accepts your return on Jan 31. Do you only have one day to ship it out and have it arrive to the seller? Dunno.

I thought that the buyer would usually see a date that they could ask ebay to step in but would not to see an actual link to escalate until after 3 business days. It's odd that you don't see that date. Your return definitely hasn't been automatically accepted?

We are on the same track:

-- Return request started on Dec 26, a weekend/holiday, so the effective start date is Dec 27.

-- Seller has 3 business days, Dec 28, 29, 30, to resolve or ignore the request.

-- Either can ask eBay to step in on Saturday, Dec 31.

If not @inhawaii it's your Feb 1 from there -- 21 business days until the request automatically closes:

From Saturday, December 31, 2022 + 21 business days
