How do you report a vulgar seller?

My apologies if this is the wrong topic/board.

I am going through a return with a maniac seller who after seeing pictures of the item in pieces will not allow me to return the item. He accused me of swapping parts, intentionally damaging the unit, besides the vulgarity and dis respect. I had a stroke last year and this transaction is really making me fluster and so I tried to contact ebay and I can't seem to get through on this topic.]

Here is a timeline of what's happened.

Purchased on Dec 14, I messaged seller asked to please pack for the 3000 mile journey. (the last one of these I purchased a year or so ago busted in transit due to poor packing. Seller agreed to pack well.

Received the item at  6am via fedex on December 22, (just in time for christmas!) Later that day I Opened box and found unsecure packing, which the item was indeed damaged on 2 sides, so in 3 corners of the unit. INformed seller with pics, multiple tiny pieces, plastic side shattered. (The seller indicated the unit is fragile on the sides and easily break but the unit functions so that's all that is important!) I actually would keep the unit even though the sides were busted.  That night, I turn the unit on again and try to record a track (it's a digital multitrack workstation), If it works.... I'll keep it! (I've been wanting to record some music over the holiday).... so about 5 minutes into using the device, (which I have experience with) the computer screen went blank/blue and there was nothing I could do but wait for it to come out of this, whatever is going on, but it never did, it apparently froze. I had to unplug the unit to be able to turn back on. This is a no no because if it freezes, it will not save what you recorded and wrote the seller that the item froze. (packed it for return) (Filed damaged item)

December 23-24 This is when the accusations began, "I knew from the start when you asked me to pack that you were going to want a return, you damaged it intentionally", He said he put stickers on the unit, which i saw when I packed the unit back up for return. This was Christmas eve. A long series of emails about "what I was up to". Intentionally destroying the unit!? Said I was swapping parts,....I wished him Merry Christmas and stopped responding.

December 27th, no return label sent...? I posted a negative feedback. Then I get a message that makes me think I need to report this seller. Ironically, they've been on ebay since 2020 and ebays says they are a top seller. Which is what made me purchase this "too good to be true" item. How can I report a seller? What do you think, I just can't take it anymore, it's like verbal abuse over a $300 item. Screenshot 2023-12-28 11.05.34 AM.png

Ok, so rather than go through the diagram of how/why to contact ebay, of which none applied,

I did a search for "report seller" and it came right up.

Thanks, I will accept this as the best answer.

Re: How do you report a vulgar seller?

I'm not really sure what the problem is.  Start a return with eBay that the item is damaged and does not work.  You could even go as far as saying not as described.   eBay is going to side with the buyer & the refund will be automatic.  No need for you to have any contact with the seller.  Your feedback to the seller will most likely be deleted once the refund goes through.  I'd recommend blocking that seller once you get your refund.

Re: How do you report a vulgar seller?

Hi thanks, when I saw the unit freeze I filed the damaged. ( about a day from receipt ).

I'm not so much afraid about getting my money back and going through the process. Based on his message above, should he be reported? Is that vulgar enough? I can't let this seller get away with this and want to bring it to ebay's attention. Afterall he is apparently "the best of ebay". lol

Re: How do you report a vulgar seller?

Did you actually open an item not as described case? You have 30 days after receipt of the item to do that.

If you did not, then please take that action.  No need for any further conversation with the seller.  Obviously, it's not productive.

Find the item in your history and click on "item not as described".  The seller is required to send you a prepaid return label (domestic purchase) or to reimburse you in advance for the return shipping and to refund in full upon receipt of the return.  If there's no action on the part of the seller within 3 days, on day #4, you return to the case and ask eBay to step in.  eBay will refund you from the seller's funds and will not require a return.

ALL buyers (as well as sellers) should read the Money Back Guarantee which offers good protection if/when a transaction goes wrong.  And, again, I cannot emphasize this enough, you need to cease all further communications with this seller.

PS:  BTW, a seller cannot refuse to accept a return.  Period.

Re: How do you report a vulgar seller?

When you opened the Not As Described case, the seller was told to send you a Return Shipping Label.

If they haven't done that, escalate the case through eBay.

EBay may send you a Label instead. If so use it.

You will be refunded when the (broken) item is delivered.

If they don't refund voluntarily, eBay will refund you.

But stay on top of this and respond quickly.

The seller gets a Defect for not cooperating.  Defects lead to higher fees, restrictions on the number and value of listings, and even a closed Seller account.

You can then leave Feedback. Do not mention the dispute.

I'm not sure if you could show his Message in quotes in your FB.

@funnymaniac2

The poster @soh.maryl gave you great step by step advice.  Especially, "on day #4, you return to the case and ask eBay to step in."   If you don't your claim will expire for no activity.

Good luck!

Re: How do you report a vulgar seller?

I tried to get ebay to step in, maybe there was some confusion, I received the item on December 22.  The message I pasted was today afterDSC_7861.JPGDSC_7860.JPG feedback was left because I had not recieved a return label or confirmation from the seller to "go ahead", ship it back, usually they give you a label right?  But I had already filed for  request to return based on the damage day 1. I can't ask ebay to step in until dec 30, so while waiting, I want to report him. If you read the messages I received during this return. I've been on ebay since 1999. I don't think anyone buying on ebay should have to  deal with this treatment. What really ticks me off is the special note above feedback that indicates from ebay that this is a stellar seller. THAT is what made me cave in and buy this "too good to be true/priced @liquication, stated "works perfectly" item.  The seller still insists he packed the item well. It seems we are now in the entertainment stage of this thread. I reported the seller and that was my question. Thanks.

Re: How do you report a vulgar seller?

I left feedback and the message in the OP was the result. Thanks, I just wanted to report the seller, I couldn't take it any more.  I was trying to be nice. So spelled it out in the feedback what happened. That's what it's for right?

The link for reporting a seller was also provided by @krazzykats  in post #5 above.

Alas, I have never heard of eBay disciplining a seller for being rude to a buyer. All you can do is stop communicating directly with the seller, ignore his messages, and try to avoid stress in any way you can.

If you had known in advance what this seller would be like, you could have just filed the "Not as described" claim and kept the whole experience at arm's length. It might also have been a good idea to give the seller more time before leaving a negative feedback; feedback should be left when the transaction is completely done, and your story isn't over yet.

And finally I wish I could point out to the seller that 'Fragile" stickers don't help at all when the packages are being processed by machinery and if an item is well-packed they aren't needed.

Seems like the feedback ship has already sailed in this case.

Re: How do you report a vulgar seller?

If the seller is sending these messages through ebay messaging, you can also report the message on that page. Near the top click on 'Action' and then report messages. You can also block them from sending you messages.

Boy howdy, it sure has.  And the seller has replied, including this amusing comment: "I even put fragile signs all around the box to get there in a safe matter!" IMHO the seller's replies to this and to his other neg will hurt him more than the negative comments themselves.

Re: How do you report a vulgar seller?

The seller's name is on their Response.

The buyer's name is not on their feedback.

Who is hurt by a hasty, angry,  or inaccurate Response?
