Having too many sellers go silent and not shipping after item value rises

One seller came back to me last month saying that the item he had aside for me got damaged.

Looking around for more copies there were very few and all had gone way up in price which leads me think that seller figured he could get more if he relisted.

Now I've bought from a comic/collectibles shop and this time the seller has just gone silent; no shipping nor replying to messages.

Looking around for another copy of the one this guy is holding out on is only pulling up maybe four other copies @ twice the price as prices have risen since this dude was sitting on my order.

Is there anything that can be done about this?

He has upwards of 300 good votes with one neg.

These sellers usually can let a buyer 'Take one for the team' every so often and not be affected.

So in the first incident, the seller would have received an Out of Stock strike if the seller cancelled due to damage.

In the second incident, open an Item Not Received claim (at least) one day past the Estimated Delivery Date on the order.

Sorry you've picked a couple of scrub sellers. Hang in there...

It seems the sellers are more than happy to refund and goading the buyers into it.

They're holding other sellers listings until the field is empty of the item and then dumping everything they 'parked' back into the field at a much more extravagant price.

The buyer is just promised backup compensation for the buyers' inventory if other listers never sell out their items thus not creating a larger demand and value.
