Fraud? How do I get my money back?

Purchased an item on 7/6 from a seller who has 3600+ feedback with 94%. Normally I don't check feedback when it's that high, but I guess I will from now on. Anyways, It has been a week and not a peep from seller. I emailed him yesterday morning asking when the item will ship. Today I get a tracking # from him. Great, right? Not so fast. It's a FedEx tracking number. So I log into my FedEx account only to find that this shipment is not in my Advanced tracking. I communicate with FedEx and find out that the tracking # the seller provided gives them a completely different name and address than mine, but in the same city. I live in a fairly small town and I just don't think it's a simple mistake of giving me someone else's tracking # that happens to live in the same town. I checked the seller's feedback and he has a lot of negative comments (98) of people not receiving their package.

So my question is what do I do now? If the package gets delivered to whatever address it was shipped to, eBay will not refund me since it will say it was delivered in my city.

one of the negative feedback from 6 months ago....

I never got my stuff. The tracking information they gave me did not even go to my address I called FedEx to confirm and they said that the tracking number I had did not go to my address or to me

Re: Fraud? How do I get my money back?

I am sorry this has happened

you will need to get rid of the idea that 94% is good because its horrible for an active seller

having a Fedex account has allowed you to do some sleuthing

its important to get this info to ebay somehow with a printout or whatever you can get

this is becoming more prevalent and it has to stop

ebay is very aware of this trick and getting the right persons attention can help you with this problem

maybe you can do chargeback and present some evidence

good luck

Did you get this in written form?

Use that to appeal as well as file a report with law enforcement for fraud and theft.

It's super easy @things-n-oddities the FedEx tracking number has a weight and measurements that anyone in the world can see, without needing to talk to FedEx. It's on the FedEx website.

Just leave a private message here for eBay on Facebook, and ask eBay to look at the weight and measurements at the FedEx website, and eBay will force a full refund.

Re: Fraud? How do I get my money back?

UPDATE: FedEx is of no help. I asked them to write a statement confirming that the package is being shipped to an address other than mine, they said they cannot do that.

So I emailed the seller instead and let him know that FedEx has confirmed that the package is being shipped to a different address and that I'm aware of the scam. 45 min later i received a refund.

I'm still going to contact eBay about this, but without any help from FedEx i'm not sure eBay will do anything about this unfortunately.

Re: Fraud? How do I get my money back?

The weight listed on the label is actually pretty close to the weight of the item i ordered. My guess is the scammer put some rocks in the box to match the weight.
