Ebay marked delivery as delivered, but USPS said that it was refused.

I recently ordered something on ebay that was pretty expensive so I was excited seeing the “delivered” notification earlier in the day. When I later checked on the tracking number it says that it was refused by the addressee which was odd. I contacted my local PO and they said that the tracking number wasn’t for my address. Ebay is telling me that it was “Delivered left with individual” at 10:46am, but the USPS website is telling me that it was refused at 11:26am. Pretty bummed out, with it being a big purchase and the fact that shipping was also $35 and wasn’t shipped until a week after the purchase. I tried contacting the seller and have received nothing so far.I’ve tried clicking “item hasn’t arrived” but I guess I have to wait until tomorrow to try again. Please advise me on what to do.

Re: Ebay marked delivery as delivered, but USPS said that it was refused.

@nicholjo-53,

"I went to the post office and tried to ask for something in writing and was told that “I couldn’t because it wasn’t addressed to me” and that I would have to wait for a manager. Upon waiting for the manager I asked for the same thing, something on a USPS label without specific information, just saying that the address I have currently doesn’t match the packages address. But again I was turned away saying that “They can’t write anything down on paper.”

Did you bring a copy of the order details or your phone or tablet so you could show the order details page to a clerk or post master with you?   If you didn't that could be why they would not write you a note.

  It is also possible, if you live in a small town, that the postmaster of your P.O. is not aware of the tracking scams.

  Since you probably have some of the 30 days to appeal left, try going to the P.O. in a larger town nearby, and make sure you bring a copy of the order details or a device to show a clerk or postmaster, that the order should have been addressed to you.  I have posted the advice I gave you dozens of times over the last few years, and people have gotten notes from USPS, FedEx, and UPS, and won appeals doing as I suggested.

Re: Ebay marked delivery as delivered, but USPS said that it was refused.

Hi, really appreciate the continued support!

Yes, I brought everything I needed including the ebay order on my phone. I’m gonna try another PO near my work and see if they can help me. I will use your advice again at this post office and hopefully I’ll be able to get something. I have a few more order updates. The order was first attempted and refused on February 5th, Return to sender processed on the 6th at 6:10pm, Refused on the 6th at 7:10pm, and now the tracking number shows Addressee Unknown on the 8th 10:57am. I don’t know if it’ll help my case, but I’ve used the same autofill address option on Ebay for all of my prior orders, so maybe they’ll see it’s likely not a problem on my end.

@nicholjo-53,

What ever you do, try not to loose patience with the clerk or postmaster you speak to,  and I would not mention any other contact with postal employees or their customer service dept.

Hi,

Yes! I was doing my best to be polite and show that I’m in some sort of distress (This is a pretty stressful situation) at the first PO to no avail. I wasn’t going to mention going to another PO first. I was going to ask only if they could help me with some info regarding my tracking number tied to an order I have.

Re: Ebay marked delivery as delivered, but USPS said that it was refused.

Hello,

I was unable to get something confirming the address, but I was able to get the name of someone who signed for it. It doesn’t match mine on the info, and it was just written on some scratch paper. The clerk was rushing me to go to the first PO because thats where the package was until tonight. I’m pretty sure I’ll get turned down again if I go and ask for a package since they already know me and my situation. My plan was to go to the second PO tomorrow to try and verify the address.
