I really didn't think it possible for a company to be on top & now decline to the bottom of the heap. I've been an Ebay buyer & sometimes seller since it first began so I can say with all clarity and conviction that the once dominant buy & sell platform of the internet has fallen so low I doubt it can ever recover.
The most crucial piece of the selling games algorithm which no business can do without.....the customer. When a company loses the trust of their customers that company is doomed and ready to close its doors.
Today, Ebay is a convoluted mess of bad sellers giving Ebay in general a bad name and in turn giving hard working good sellers a bad name and the most important of all the lack of live customer support, or any for that matter.
The customer & business both need customer support & real live customer support, not some email contact that may or may not address the buyer's concerns. The one problem the internet selling platform needs to overcome if it actually wants to dominate the brick & mortar retail business is customer service w real people and not some idiotic chat with a bot which continues to spell out the words, "I'm sorry, you need to be more specific". These online companies want so much to reap every penny they can and to achieve this they do away with all frontline personal.
Ebay's sellers; Ebay treats the sellers like the US government treats its citizen, meaning no protection, no support and fees that just keep building and finally when the seller is taxed so much & leaves Ebay say's thank you for your support by charging the sellers account more fees. For seller it now makes almost no sense to even bother listing items.
Conclusion; My opinion is that Ebay, while seeking cash, will finally sell off division after division until eventually there's nothing left but a destroyed name not even worth the price of a domain. Soon we'll see how how Ebay does w/o buyers or sellers however in the end I believe Ebay will go where all destroyed businesses go to die and the life of the once internet giant will finally reside right next to Sears, Kmart & Montgomery Wards. In the end the name Ebay will only be a footnote in the history of the internet while the name Ebay will eventually be forgot all together. RIP Ebay.

Rats..dont tell me the sky is falling again..Ebay started in 1995...not 2005.

Sounds to me as though you did 5 minutes of research on Ebay and it's over inflated realistic position in the retail sector. On the other hand, as an investigative journalist, my words came after a month of research.
Revenue is up due to additional fees and diminished personal support
Merchandise and sellers grew due to the many Chinese and Indonesian companies now selling on Ebay

Are you referring to what I wrote? Maybe you were reading another persons post as I not once placed a start date for Ebay. If you were commenting on my post then it's clear as always how people fail to actually read the words.
If I'm mistaken regarding you commenting on my post & it was actually another post you had commented on then I do apologize

And perhaps learn how to write "eBay" during the journalism.

Ebay is doing pretty good currently, it's hardly time for a funeral. Can you provide your source that's suggesting it's a goner?
Is it "I forgot where" on social media?

You wrote that you have been with the company since it began - but your feedback page shows that you signed up your account in 2005. The company has been around since 1995.

Henny Penny, the sky is falling. Again. For the umpteenth time.
And yet GMV keeps on growing. How can this be?

As an 'investigative journalist' you no doubt would have read the financial news. No? eBay is not going gangbusters but it's also not going away.

I will go way out on a limb here and guess that your main reason for writing is because you are still honked off about the Neg you left for a now removed seller concerning a portable heater that you ordered and did not get. Even though the listing has been removed you should still be able to recover your money and order from a better seller. Tell us if you need help with that. It is true that the customer service people are less than experts when it comes to helping get refunded on a listing that has been removed.

Frankly, I don't think that we need to hold a wake for eBay just yet.

" blah blah blah"
Kissing up on eBay, isn't gonna convince them to buy vaseline.
eBay is falling, although it's slow, like a snail leaving Canada and going to Florida, but that snail will eventually get there; those silky smooth, glory days are forever lost. Nowadays, it's rough as an old fried, dried corncob; oh sure, they'll stick around, as long as the sheep bow... They've tried to compete with Amazon, only to be slowly moving towards a fancy CL, with bells and whistles: all of it: opinionated opinion; doesn't mean jack chit.

I sold at many auctions outside the USA. A similar story has already happened in my practice with a large European auction Alegro-Aukro-Molotok(Hammer). Absolutely correct post. Just be prepared for the worst and yes, have time to withdraw your money from the MP.
