I recently had a disappointing transaction with a seller. I ordered several items from this seller and I received the wrong item. The seller sent me an item that another buyer had purchased, and must have sent my items to this other buyer. I let the seller know about this mix-up and the seller quickly gave me a full refund. I am still disappointed because I got a crappy item that the other buyer ordered and the other buyer got my nice items that I was really looking forward to receiving. The seller told me to keep the item that was sent to me by mistake. I know that mistakes happen and the seller did refund me, but I am not happy about this transaction. Should I leave a neutral feedback or no feedback?

Leaving feedback about your experience with the transaction is entirely up to you.
Personally I wouldn't leave bad feedback because the seller did acknowledge their mistake and refunded you, so really you are out nothing. That is just my opinion.

There's a good chance that while the seller may have been happy to refund and let you keep the "crappy item" they may have asked the other buyer to return the "nice items" for a refund.
Similar has happened to me and I did the no feedback choice, as I thought my seller did try their best to put things right.

As a seller, I have made this exact type of mistake during very busy sales times. I get going to fast and put the wrong label on the wrong package. I would encourage you to leave no feedback, but if you feel you must, then neutral. I know you wanted the item, but you did get your money back.
A few times I have communicated with both buyers and provided labels to have the items shipped to each other. Some of those times one of the buyers didn't ever respond, other times it worked out. I would just realize us sellers are humans and make mistakes. We are not big box stores, which also make mistakes

Positive feedback...seller did what was right...refunded you and told you to keep item.
A lot of sellers don't do that.
We all make mistakes in life...not just here on eBay.

I’ve made this mistake before, as I’m sure a good amount of other sellers have, too. Sold two very similar items around the same time, and accidentally mixed up the labels. I was lucky to have two very kind and honest buyers who were willing to let me pay for them to ship the items back and allow me to resend them correctly, and didn’t leave me any feedback.
I understand being unhappy since you not only got the wrong item, but also probably won’t ever get the ones you ordered. Super frustrating situation. But the seller was responsible enough to take ownership of their mistake, and let you keep the item so you didn’t have to go through the trouble of returning it for the refund. If it were me, I just wouldn’t leave any feedback, since the seller did what they could to resolve things, and it was an honest mistake. But it’s all up to you, at the end of the day. 🙂

I would leave no feedback. Your seller did that by accident and it cost them money. Yes, I can understand your unhappy. Sellers mixing up items is not uncommon and anyone selling has to take great care.
So, I feel it would be unfair to give them poor feedback over a mistake.

And thank you for the courtesy of raising this question, which is a very good one, by the way, and for seeking insights from others.
