I live in the UK, and I have noticed lately big problems with delivering items. I try to pick buyers who use Royal Mail because of the plethora of courier companies. I am used to Royal mail and know when they deliver. So the week before last I bought two items as they were listed as Royal Mail and now they are being delivered by one of the worst couriers in the UK called Yodel.
EBay sent me a message on Saturday the 31th Aug 2024 which was the day it was supposed to come saying it was out for delivery, but it wasn't on the app by Yodel. So I managed to get in touch with them and they said it would be delivered by Monday the second, but they couldn't say whether it would come on Saturday. So I had to stay in all Saturday, and now it's Monday lunchtime and the app still says they have it, but it's not out for delivery.
I'm finding the problems with delivery, and also the General use of eBay has gone really bad lately, I don't want to use Amazon, but I'm housebound and I need items from online shops. I live in quite a big town but we don't have a department store so finding simple basic kitchen items can be quite a problem. I don't feel there's any point in me complaining on my own. But is this a common problem in the UK? The thing is, I wouldn't mind paying a bit more for a proper delivery service. But time and time again, I'm stuck here waiting for the doorbell and nothing happens..

If you are in the UK, maybe post this on the UK boards, instead of the USA boards. No idea how the postal system works over there...

Everyone has different views. As a buyer and a seller I prefer Evri. Only ever had one problem with them due to a driver resigning but it worked out in the end.
Royal Mail is a mixed bag for me. Delivering some items but holding others. And don't get me started on their temps chucking parcels over my seven foot back gate.
As for Amazon most times here they just drop a parcel by my front door and drive off. Not bothering to even ring the doorbell, so you probably won't like them.

Thanks for that, yes, I think it's post code lottery. I am forever waiting in for yodel and they consistently either don't arrive on the day or they lose a parcel whatever the problem is the seller said they were sending it by Royal Mail. That's why I chose them. Yes, I found Evri has gone better. I'm trying not to go back to Amazon for political reasons. But if it carries on like this, it will leave me with no choice. I know you sellers are finding it difficult.Maybe it's time to leave. Thanks for your answer..

For the life for me, I can't find UK boards according to the top of the screen I am on eBay UK. I think I'm going to give up with eBay. I've had enough..

eBay doesn't prevent sellers from changing carriers as long as the type of delivery is the same, i.e. Economy, Standard, Expedited.

Thank you, I don't know where you live, but we don't get that type of postage in the UK. It's normally second-class of first class or international mail.
