Counterfeit Automotive Parts

The nations #1 online source for buying and selling counterfeit automotive parts listed and sold as genuine. No other online company even comes close to eBay in this department. They invite fraud with open arms.

eBay does not sell or ship ANYTHING.

Any time any buyer receives any counterfeit item, he can and should open an item not as described case.

How does eBay "invite fraud", exactly? You do know that no one at eBay sees or evaluates most items sold here, right?

I didn't know they were counterfeit until way after the 30 days. I'll have to start using PayPal like you suggest if parts are purchased from Ebay now on. According to Ebay the seller is from the United States.

So you wouldn't consider Ebay to be an online source for buying and selling at all? Please explain to me what your definition is of Ebay then. Yes, I'm aware Ebay is a website for private sellers and buyers. I didn't know it was a counterfeit item until after the 30 days. The counterfeit seller I bought from will be selling without any consequences even after reported to Ebay which some people would consider inviting fraud. I can only assume Ebay has employees that read what is reported to them about a seller but maybe not nowadays. I don't know since I don't work at or for Ebay.

Pretty sure that's not what I said although it may be your interpretation of my remarks.

What I said was that eBay itself does not sell anything.  And that no one from eBay actually evaluates listings to make sure the item is real rather than counterfeit.

Just like any purchase anywhere, any buyer has to do his due diligence.  On eBay, if a buyer does happen to purchase a counterfeit item, that buyer has the MBG.  But the buyer has to understand it and use it within 30 days.  Failing that, he can open a case with Paypal if that's how he paid, or, last resort, a chargeback on his credit card.

Again, eBay is heavily biased in favor of buyers.  But, again, the buyer has to understand his options when/if what he receives is not as described.

As far as reporting any seller to eBay, eBay doesn't take  the word of just one buyer.  How do they know it's not a competing seller trying to squash the competition.

I've been doing this a very long time and I've been fooled a several times including this time which was an excellent fake and it passed my visual with flying colors.  Another time it was obvious to me and might have been noticed by a novice tech. There was a very good counterfeit oxygen sensor I bought for my own car on Ebay not once but twice that looked more authentic on the outside than the real bosch sensor. Had a problem with both obviously but the first one lasted about 3 months 2,000 miles, not unheard of but rare. The second only lasted a month, not unheard of but very rare, and that's when I wasted hours upon hours of diagnosing what other problems it could be why the sensors kept failing because to install two parts and both of them being bad isn't normal which leads you to believing it must be something else. I won't bore you with the technicals so long story short the more expensive real bosch sensor has lasted 5 years 50,000 miles and counting with no issues pertaining to the original problem of setting trouble codes nor replacing any other parts that would cause the part to fail. This was before I knew how widespread the counterfeit part problem has become and how good these parts look on the outside. Authenticity guarantees would be awesome but will raise costs to the level of buying from brick and mortar stores for everyone. I agree with you and in my own words it would be impossible to eliminate counterfeit parts however my complaint with ebay is they opened the door years ago, did too little, and it has become uncontrollable now due to their very lazy pick and choose policies that they enforce. I already got a warning today from somebody meanwhile in dumb dumb land the seller is sending me more of their spark plugs as we speak. I do want them though because of two possible outcomes both being positive. One being they are the same counterfeit and I get to look at them extremely closely along with a much closer look at the packaging which was thrown away months ago compared to a real package. Second being they send me real ones purchased from somewhere else so it's money out of their pocket.

My interest stems from the installation of "Brand Name" struts on my SUV....

(this is a 3 year time frame)

I am no expert....got first set from Amazon around 200 bucks (these are 500.00 lexus rx350 rear)

seemed fine for about 5K then it was like they just 'quit' again

Tried a nationwide chain next (420.00 or so)....not much better

Are they infiltrating the Chains too?

I'll need to know which brand struts you purchased to give you my input. Do you see any oil looking residue leaking from them or dust/dirt collecting to them? When you say "quit" again do you mean the vehicle seems to bounce excessively over bumps or what do you mean by that so I can better understand your symptom?
