Coronavirus Price Gouging

I have found an email address for The United States Department of Justice fraud department that deals with disaster related fraud.  It's the closest I've been able to find for reporting the price gouging during a national emergency.  If you have the ability, print the page as a pdf and then attach it.  disaster@leo.gov  May they ALL pay for their greed.

Re: Coronavirus Price Gouging

Do you really think our Government has nothing better to do at the moment than to be bothered with someone on eBay pricing their item too high?  Get serious.  It will hit the trash can just as soon as they receive.  It is not our job to be pricing police.  That's eBay job as they run the selling venue.  Good luck.

Re: Coronavirus Price Gouging

There is a department for just this. They're waiting for the reports notifying them of criminals.  It's what they do.

And I do think the gov't agencies will be a bit more receptive after the recent, highly publicized instances of price gouging (aka: taking advantage of people).

And if doing this makes people feel like they're helping, encourage them instead of ridiculing.  They're doing it for everyone. 😶

@picknparley,

I hope you are not expecting quick action on the part of the federal and state agencies whose job it is to deal with the reports.  A) the agencies slide along slowly on a sea of paper.

B) Since many agencies are basically closed or short staffed because of the social distancing policies, it will slow down the process of identifying offenders.   C) When reporting a company, the agency will review how they dealt with reports of price gouging and take what action they deem necessary after the fact.

Re: Coronavirus Price Gouging

Exactly. Everyone thinks that the government should be hands-off in this crisis. Those people are called opportunists. The people who are concerned with the concept of prices for basic necessities being warped permanently, those are the people reporting price gouging. If they could theses opportunists would still be selling river water as “elixir” to sick people like the days before our products had to pass food safety and health regulations. There are honest salespeople and there are opportunists. Those are the people that suddenly become expert economists when someone tell them about ethics. They believe if you’re stupid enough to buy from them then you deserve to pay the price and they’ll tell you they believe they’re providing a much needed service all in the same breath.
