I recently purchased a coin from a person that said he had 5 such coins for sale looking at the add ,it states 17 sold.now if he only had 5 why did he sell 17 , I'm nervous it's a presale of coin that won't be shipped till October, they told eBay it's been shipped.

Presales are 'ebay' illegal unless they ship within the next 30 days. Ebay has a 30 day money back guarantee so buying something that won't ship for months insures that you have no protection.
'Sold 17' is the number of that add that he has sold, and could have 5 left? (unless you are stating the body of the written description says he has 5 and he's still sold 17..hmm.
Bottom line- find another seller in October when this can be had.

estamated delivery date: if you do not get it then file an item not received case: you have 30 days to do so.
If tracking shows you got it (contact shipper and get in writing that is was delivered to some were else than your address): standered scam these days....
If get sent a piece of paper or some other such junk, file an item not as described.

If he has sold 17 and still has 5, that means he started out with 22 items.
As noted in the other post, he is violating eBay's policy which says that you can't sell presale items more than 30 days before the release date.

Yeah, I'm aware of the pre-sale policy/restriction and have cited it in the past. Not sure how I missed that.

as others haev stated............you shoud find another seller when the time comes
ebay like presales of 30 days or less.the reason for this is to protect the buyers.
ebay recomends that sellers limit presales to 30 days
do not get caught up in some delivery date estimate that is going to haunt you
