Recently i have made two purchases that resulted in endless wait times. Both sellers stated the item was in the US. I searched for US items only to make my purchases. The latest of which was said to be from Ennis MT. A small town only a few miles from me. So I bought. After a long wait for a much needed item I cancelled the sale. The refund came back shown on paypal as "Appears on statement as: PAYPAL *SEN JIUHAO EBA 4029357733 CA 95131 USA" So it appears we are being lied to more and more. What can we do to combat these lies? Other than shop elsewhere that ebay?

Isn't that a US phone number (PayPal), US state, and US zip code; can't a seller of any race have those?

Check the estimated delivery date before purchasing.

Yes Sir, I did. From a small town less than 100 miles away it was only a day or two. That is what I needed and one reason I searched for a seller close to me.

I do believe when they lie about the product / sellers location it gives shipping estimations from their falsly claimed location.

Yes, Sure they can. I have been awaiting this reply. This is a growing problem. They have a US location for their import hub. Many times "industry of California" it ships from China, to this location then to the buyer from there. Tracking results, which I never received on the last item because it was still in China, will eventually show "Tendered to USPS" At this point the package gets a USPS tracking number as it is now in the US and can be tracked from USPS. These "Falsely posted Location sellers" know exactly what they are doing and lie about their location to trick buyers into thinking they are buying US, and it will arrive quickly and on time. The stated delivery times are generated from the False location the sellers put in their ad. But late arrivals, and China goods are the reality. So please don't play the race card here. These sellers are being dishonest no matter what their nationality.

Yes Please. I know they misrepresented the item location. I started a post on my fb page about it and have already gotten over 15 comments from ebay buyer friends that have also been lied to by sellers claiming wrongful locations. I think a complaint is in order. This dishonest activity will only hurt ebay sales in the long run. A good buy / sell relationship on line requires trust.

Okay! I'll start with just one screenshot of the Resolution Center, because the link is sort of unusual. From there on in, I'll just list the verbiage associated with the link. If you have time, go ahead and file your report with my instructions, and if you need any more screenshots along the way, I'll be happy to post them.
Share this info on how to report a seller with your 15+ friends. Also, make sure everyone knows that misrepresenting an item location is also grounds for a SNAD return, according to our eBay community staff.
So, first, click on eBay's link for the Resolution Center. There's a link on every page.
1. "Resolving buying problems." (Link in the "Help" box on the right of the above.)
2. "Reporting an item or issue with a seller."
3. "Report a seller." (Blue box-shaped button)
4. "The seller has violated one of eBay’s policies." (Radio button--then Continue)
5. Enter seller name, select the reason for the report, add comments, and submit.

False location, I have noticed a big uptick in sellers from China that never intend to ship. Wonder if they don't have the new seller funds hold over there? It's always new sellers.

I've been scammed by this twice in the past month, trying to buy the same item.
The "location" of the item- the place it is supposed to ship from- was listed as inside of the continental USA for both items: one in california, and one in new york.
Both listings had great delivery estimates. After the first was a week late, I purchased the second, as it was stated to be shipping from a location about 20 miles from my home.
After another week passed, and the second item was late, I started looking into it. Both sellers were listed as being in China...
I checked tracking, which in both cases was a USPS number, at the WINIT website, and *both* shipments were shown to originate in China, not the USA...
eBay was of no help at all. The sellers stall, because eventually, the item will be delivered, and they will be off the hook. eBay has no interest in helping deceived buyers, mostly because the call center that you talk to is located on the other side of the world... so, you're left waiting. Maybe it will come, maybe it won't...If it does, you're stuck with it, long after you don't need it anymore, and if it doesn't- well, then you start the process of demanding your money back- generally about 2 months after the item should have been in your hands...
You can report this behavior, but seriously- the folks who answer the phones at eBay are generally located in the same area as the folks who are lying about the item location. They have no real motivation to help buyers located on the other side of the world.
This practice is growing larger all of the time. Not only is it bad for buyers as explained above, but it's also harmful to sellers in the USA, who now have to compete with chinese vendors who lie about the item location to make additional sales- from people who sometimes prefer *not* to buy goods from china, as well as those who need a timely delivery...bad, bad business...

Try reporting the sellers via the website, as I outlined in my earlier post. That may be reviewed (or whatever) through a different channel than a phone call to customer service is.
You also have an opportunity to report individual listings.
Go to "Report item" link across from the "Description" and "Shipping and Payments" tabs.
Last, make these selections on the report screen:
