Buyer beware!

People who sell coins on eBay or either openly committing fraud or don’t know what they’re doing!

Quarters made by the U.S. mint from ‘65,’66 and’67 I have no mint mark. Don’t waste your money.

Hi @lablover2002

Surely you must have left out the word 'some' ... as in 'Some people who sell coins on eBay ...'.

I guess you don't mean me, I don't have any USA coins from 1965-67. (Why would anyone want to sell these anyway? I can go to the bank and search rolls and find them... that's how I got the ones that are in my collection).

Re: Buyer beware!

Well it is a big deal, because I’ve reported several people for trying to sell Quarters on here on here that have no mint mark for $300-$500. ‘ from 1965 to 1967 the US mint didn’t include mint marks. I have a problem with people trying to cheat others and making someone believe that they found a rare coin!

Re: Buyer beware!

If you do a search you’ll find plenty of people trying to sell these quarters for $300 to $500

when they’re barely over all the actual face value of the coin.

Re: Buyer beware!

The whole internet (not just ebay) is FULL of fake Double eagles and shipwreck coins and whatnot, and your main concern is '65-67 US quarters?

Re: Buyer beware!

Reporting the listings will do absolutely nothing. There's no way for eBay to employ experts in every single item they sell. So your reports are just you saying one thing and the seller saying another. Ebay doesn't know who's right, so they ignore it. They have a very comprehensive Money Back Guarantee if a buyer receives something that's not as described.

Re: Buyer beware!

I would see it as a problem if the seller was trying to sell them "with" a mint mark because it would be fake.

Some listings just tweak the viewer's buttons.

Don't see eBay taking any action on such.

Sellers often say something is "rare" when it may just be rare to them.

It's just as with anywhere else............. buyer beware. Don't expect many serious collectors/buyers would be fooled.

Re: Buyer beware!

I agree with OP in a sense but you're trying to penalize people for being under- educated. All these people selling coins with no mint mark and calling it "rare" is something that one person got confused about and it spiraled out of control from there. These sellers don't want to research and learn which coins are the actual rare ones with no mint mark, their research consists of seeing some joker seller that had one and either had a second account or a buddy with an account put a fake high bid for the coin and now it appears as if the coin sold for that much. These new numismatists don't realize they're looking at a fake sale so they list every coin from the Philadelphia mint as if it's a treasure that's going to make them rich.  It's nothing more than basic ignorance and it's not going to artificially raise the cost or value of anything because nobody in their right mind would buy one, they never have and never will, not when there is a dozen more legitimate coins identical that are selling for the correct value.  These people don't need to get kicked off eBay or have a hard time from people like op, well,  some do,  but most just need to be educated just like all coin collectors or sellers have been, then they will be an asset to our hobby and trade and frankly,  we could use more good numismatists in my opinion.

Reminds me of Beanie Babies. People think they have something that they do not.
