I was looking for a pair of Victoria's Secret panties to replace a pair I had for about 7 years. When I searched I came across the EXACT pair (same style, color, label, etc.) I was trying to replace. I bought mine in 2014 direct from VS. The seller had "vintage" in both title and description and they were price at $59.99! They were under $10 originally. I contacted her and asked about the "vintage" pair. She admitted that she could be mistaken about the date as there is no date on the label (her words). I reported the listing as misleading but of course it is still listed.
After investigating her feedback as a seller and buyer, I soon realized that she buys VS panties from other sellers who have them listed a lot cheaper and lists them at an exorbitant price, labeling many as vintage when they clearly are not. I don't know how many other sellers do this but she probably isn't the only one.
Why is this allowed, isn't it fraudulent to label something vintage when it is only 7 years old? And charge vintage prices?
Check vintage Victoria's Secret pink soft mesh floral thong L new as an example.

LOL at your post: a lot of folks purchase a items to resale at a prophet... Your grocery store does so...
Vintage as a term is subjective and to the user. It is that any used item could be said to be such....
Try the computer system a year would be a vintage item.......

Hi @kelci-becke
The word 'vintage' doesn't have an agreed-upon meaning. It really should apply only to wines, where the word Vintage is followed by a specific Date. When used with non-wine items ... vintage just means 'older than recent' ... without any clarifying age.
Are you sure the panties are NEW ... which they must be to list on eBay. [I'm thinking that certain people might buy vintage panties precisely because they expect them NOT to be NEW ... which is a completely different story.]

You know what I do with my vintage undies? Throw them away.

The definition of vintage varies according to the genre. For example, in the world of Barbie collecting 'vintage' has traditionally referred to dolls/outfits made between 1959 and about 1973. I somehow think that in the world of underwear there are very many brand new (as they would have to be to be able to be sold here) 1959-1973 examples out there.
Bottom line, unless there is a clearly defined definition of what constitutes 'vintage' in undies, the term is useless and can be considered marketing fluff. What else would you call a pair of 2014 undies? You can't call them used, because not only would they not be allowed, but ick. And somehow I think the listing title "Old underwear" is not going to attract the right kind of buyer. As for buying things to resell at a profit, it's called capitalism. I think you'd be hard pressed to find someone who has succeeded as a seller here who doesn't purchase their items for less than they sell them for.

$59.99 Does not sound like too much to pay for underwear that lasts for seven years!!

Vintage sounds better than old and musty. However, it does not have a set meaning.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with seller buying low reselling higher
That is called free market retail
If you continue to shop around, you may find another seller selling the underwear for a lower price
Good luck

This might be a silly question, but did you check to see if Victoria's Secret still sells that line?

BUYERS BEWARE of Sellers Listing "VINTAGE" Panties, Fraudulent!!!
I openly admit that I only came in here to find out what this ^^^^ was about - never heard of Vinatge Panties LOL
Clearly I have lived a very sheltered life.........

@downunder-61 Clearly.

It’s for the system. The system will not let you post underwear unless they are “vintage”
please note as a seller myself just talk to the seller instead of reporting listings. That does more harm then good.
