ses a complex algorithm to show buyers the most relevant items, factoring in listing quality, seller performance, price, and personal buyer preferences to maximize sales and satisfaction, rather than just sorting by price or date". **bleep**! "Best Match" is the WORST search method. I've been using ebay for 27 years and found every time I use Search I end up Immediately changing the search method from the so-called "Best Match". (should be called WORST WATCH). So when I forget to change the search method, I find the "Best Match", sometimes list only a handful of searches. Prior from ebay changing defaulting the search method, I had no problems, the search are endless and there was NO DUPLICATES. Yes, No Duplicates, now come up constantly with the so-called Best Match. Listings that I already previously looked at. I find that I personally choose the "Sort Time: Newly Listed" option. This should be the DEFAULT! They should get rid of the Best Match! By using the Newly Listed, It's an endless list that goes from Most Current to Oldest Listings.

From Google Search: "eBay defaults to "Best Match" because,...
because of the wonderful things it does??

How does one reply to a message that has a partial quote from ebay's Optimizing listings for Best Match, written for sellers, but posted on the Buying board?
It is very easy to set a permanent search Sort for Time: ending soonest/newly listed. Price: lowest/highest first, or Distance: Nearest. If you still get to many irrelevant results you can use the Category filter in the left column to filter out some of the results.
My search Sort: Is permanently set to Time: ending soonest for reasons of my own. Though sometimes change it to "newly listed".
If the reason for this post is that you can't find your items for sale easily by using Best Match, one of the reasons ebay's info does not not state is: Higher volume sellers get a better search results position, in Best Match searches.

This should be the DEFAULT!
The default sort order is user-selectable. Use the "Customize" menu option from the search results page which can be found in the upper right by clicking on the icon that allows the users to choose between List or Gallery view.
